Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
I stayed at this hotel with my family in a 3-bedroom apartment in January 2025. Our apartment was one of the most beautiful and well-appointed holiday apartments we have ever stayed in, with curved glass, panoramic windows facing out onto the ski slopes, and beautiful finishings.
By way of room amenities, you can expect (at least in the 3-bedroom apartment we stayed in): European laundry with washer and separate dryer; washing machine; iron and ironing board; drying off area in the entry (not a drying room as such); oven, stove top, microwave, pantry, tea and coffee-making facilities and daily housekeeping.
Property amenities included a communal laundry facility (which makes me think that not all rooms have a Euro laundry); ice machine area; ski valet; deli/cafe/wine merchant; on-site ski shop (higher-end fashion orientated); on-site restaurant (Kumo); onsen (women’s and men’s public plus also some private onsens).
The windows and property in general is fastidiously cleaned, something of a rarity in ski towns (at least in my somewhat limited experience).
The location can’t be faulted and as advertised, the property is ski-in and ski-out. We couldn’t get ski lessons in Hirafu though, so my kids and husband took the shuttle around the corner to Hanazono (20-25; gets very crowded at peak times) for their lessons (husband also had a private lesson over there). Hanazono is lovely and connects to a ski route that comes back down to Hirafu and Skye anyway (so you could take the shuttle and ski back for lunch, as my husband did). Also on the subject of location, it is a short 5 minute downhill stroll to a pharmacy/supermarket (on your left). It’s 10 minutes back up the hill.
The staff were very courteous and well-trained. The food at Kumo was absolutely divine and I thought the sashimi was amazing. Breakfast gets busy at peak times and it’s a fend-for-yourself, find-your-own-table situation, which was a little frustrating at times, with many people dining alone at a table that could actually take four people. At Kumo, two of our drinks orders were lost and took over an hour to arrive.
Would I recommend this hotel to a friend? 100% yes. It’s so beautiful, everything is such high-quality and the food and location are divine. I can’t imagine anybody being unhappy here!

One of the nicest and poshest place to stay for a ski holiday in Grand Hirafu, Niseko. Really super polite staffing team and excellent service. Would have given 5 stars but unfortunately the cold gyoza (inside filling) sort of cost Skye their full marks. Staff did make up for the very very persistent apologies. Can’t really complain about the stay except that it can get a tad warm which was an easy fix by opening the small window. Unfortunately early in the season meant that the gondola side was not open hence the direct access to the ski slopes is limited to a short walk across the road the Ace chair lifts. Food options are limited as Kumo’s menu is somewhat limited. Please make reservations for dinner elsewhere as even early season the restaurants get super full as well.
Skye can be considered furthest away from the main food area, Middle Hirafu but the shuttle bus which loops around every 20 minutes really help. Ski Valet service and rental options are top notch. The Ski Valet service was a first for me which was a really pleasant and great experience, every thing from helping me get out of my pesky ski boots at the end of the day, drying and storing my boots and skis for the next day made this trip that little bit more posh.
The private onsen options was also a very pleasant addition. Just chillng in my own space at the end of a tiring day on the slopes was just great. Will come again and would recommend Skye to anyone who asks.

Stayed at SKYE Niseko on Feb 2023 at room 801 (Annupuri West Penthouse). It’s the best room in the hotel since it’s the top floor and facing all Niseko, the slopes on both sides and Mt Yotei from the terrace and onsen/hot springs (see photo). The room is very well designed with great layout and amenities.
The location of SKYE is the best in Niseko because it’s literally in the slopes having ski in-out and ski valet. Also walking distance to several great restaurants in Hirafu town.
If you are looking for a memorable stay in Niseko, this is the place to choose.

Shuttle bus should always run from early morning and it only starts from 12 noon unlike previous season. Front staff did not inform us of the change in hours. Shuttle driver does not turn into Chatrium driveway and stays on the main road. Visitors have look out for shuttle at Chatrium. Room toilet seat is not working (seat is not heated) and mgt team did not check properly. Poor allocation of room since this was our 2nd visit to Skye and this maybe our last. Bigger 2 bedroom was allocated as a storage room (501) and we were allocated a much smaller room (502). Why wouldn’t they use the smaller 2 bedroom for storage. Bad restaurant dinner menu since this is the main restaurant. Very limited menu and remove items on new year’s dinner like removing a beef main course.

Hirafu beginner ski area and magic carpet for beginners are just right in front of the room (we stayed in room number 612. Ski rental shop was very nice, all the staff are professional and we came to return the gear after operating hours so the shop was already close but one of the staff was kind enough and open the shop especially for us(sorry didn’t catch his name but he was Asian). Thank you so much otherwise we wouldn’t have our shoes back after skiing and need to wait till tomorrow.

This place is amazing! Location can't be beat and the entire property is first class. Breakfast every day was outstanding and the on-site ski rental shop provided us with high end gear to make every day of skiing just right. We stayed in the 4BR penthouse 801 called "Annupuri West" which was a dream... one of the best mountain units I've ever experienced with beautiful appointments and its own patio with hot tub. If you're going to Niseko and want the best, go here.

Before we arrived for our early January stay, we knew Skye was very expensive and we wondered how we could possibly get our money's worth. We did get our money's worth. The engineering and design of the facility are fabulous - from the heated floors to the window vents for cold fresh air. We stayed in a two bedroom suite. The living room/kitchen dinning area was beautiful and very comfortable. The kitchen was extremely well equipped. Appliances including the washing machine and dryer were fo high quality and easy to use. Prices for wine, snacks, and sandwiches in the deli shop are quite reasonable. Almost everyone of the staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. The equipment staff were competent and efficient. The shuttle to the main ski center which you had to go to for group lessons ran continually between 8AM and 10AM which meant almost no wait. The rest of the day the shuttle through town ran every 20 minutes. The drug store/convenience store a very short walk down the hill (and right next to the shuttle's first stop) is remarkably stocked with food and reasonably prices wine and liquor. We were very happy with the breakfast buffet. The quality was high and the variety of both western and asian foods was excellent.

OMG, this was one of the coolest accommodations I've ever been lucky enough to visit! Skye Niseko is great, but the real highlight was Annupuri West/Unit 801. It's a 4-bedroom penthouse with 15' high ceilings, floor to ceiling glass, top of the line finishes and furnishings, a wrap-around terrace with hot tub and firepit and dead-on views onto the slopes. It's higher than the other penthouses and on the slope side so it really enjoys just a superior location. For anyone who wants the best...this is the unit!

The moment you step into Skye Niseko, one of the newest and luxurious establishments in Hirafu you know you have made the right decision. I had the privilege of staying in room #801, one of the penthouses called Annupuri West. It’s on the top floor with a great view of the slopes and MT Yotei which you can enjoy while relaxing in your own private onsen to watch the sunrise (definitely recommended!) or unwind after enjoying the best powder Japan can offer. Each of the 4 bedrooms being an en-suite was also great. The location of Skye meant you had the option of taking the gondola or the lifts up the mountain, which is definitely an advantage when deciding where you want to ski in the morning. The restaurant in Skye called Kumo was great too. I enjoyed the Japanese breakfast there, full of Hokkaido's best ingredients!
Room Tip:Penthouse Annupuri West #801, luxury at its best

Stayed in Unit 801/Anapuri West and was blown away! This is by far the best ski place I have ever stayed at. It's a huge penthouse with four bedrooms, all with fabulous en-suite bathrooms. There's a huge living area and a well equipped kitchen and the ceilings are super high with floor to celling glass windows providing great views. Unit has the best position on the top floor of the hotel with a really great view over the slopes, enhanced when the runs are lit up for night skiing. Also has a great terrace with an awesome hot tub which is the perfect place to be, beer in hand at the end of a hard day of skiing. Hotel facilities are great too with delicious food (loved the breakfasts!) and full service ski valet/shop. Ski in ski out too.

Hi Kamz77,
There are 5 penthouses on the top floor of Skye Niseko and all have onsen and fire pits on the expansive external balconies.
You can find more information on the penthouses on Skye Niseko's website which unfortunately I cannot link here due to TripAdvisor's posting policy.
Good evening. You can ski from the ski valet across to the mountain centre, it does involve a short skate on the skis but is accessible for everyone except perhaps first timer skiers. Snowboarders probably need to unclip for a short while.
Ski in access is possible from either side of the hotel.
Kind regards,
Chris
Definitely rent at Skye. Great equipment and new and u can switch gear easily. Renting and return is so easy no reason to go out and prices are competitive
