Superbly located in the heart of Hirafu village, surrounded by great restaurants, bars, cafes, hot springs and a pleasant stroll to the lifts, the winter cottage “Captain” makes a perfect home away from home in the abundant Niseko powder snow. The non-smoking cottage is run by very friendly Japanese and Australian staff who, in addition to their housekeeping and cooking duties, are happy to show you around their favourite spots on the mountain and in the village.

I stayed nine wonderful days at Captain Hirafu. The staff are exceptionally helpful and nice, it really was like a family. Rooms are simple, clean and tastefully decorated. The miniature onsen (thermal bath) is a nice detail which not many apartment houses or B&Bs can offer. The lodge is smack in the middle of Hirafu which is good for entertainment but also entails some noise at night.

Great place to stay. Extraordinarily clean. Very comfortable. And a great owner and staff. Captain Hirafu is my first choice for lodging when I go to Niseko. I was introduced to this place by a friend at work and have stayed there on three different trips this season. Every time was fantastic.

Three families staying together at Captain Hirafu: the very best ski holiday experience I have ever had. Owner Liam and his team are wonderful hosts at this cozy B&B which is walking distance to the Hirafu ski lifts. Après ski, we enjoyed afternoons and evenings by the fire, group movie viewings, card games, delicious dining and Japanese hot baths. It was our choice to do these things on premise or at the many venues within walking distance of Captain Hirafu. If you simply must stay in lodgings that have elevators and video arcades, go elsewhere. If you want to feel at home, spend less than a hotel, make friends and, quite literally, ski in and out of your place, check out Captain Hirafu.
