- location A+ -room A+ -service D -food , no rating possible THE worst food in any hotel ive ever been to. If a hospital cafeteria served this up the health dep wud interevene. The photos they represent on the website are NOTHING, zero, nada like the tripe they served up, when asked where is the food ur adversing ,the owners responce was , oh thats just an indication ! WE had 2 families of 8 and he kids refused to even put it near their mouths, The breakfast the next day was even worse that the slop they dished up at dinner. they have zero respect for their guests , all they seemed to worry about was DONT PARK HERE and food is on the table at 6!, not when wud u like to eat ? i wudnt serve that rubbish to a pooch no way, old soggy fish from plastic wrapper, sausages that had ZERO meat content, salad , HA , 3g of cabbage drowned in mayonaise !!!!!!!!!!!! stay there , yea like faulty tower but DONT EAT , oh but the rooms are good! Just the worst.…
We spent a few days skiing in Akakura, Myoko, Japan and had a blast. 3 metres of snow fell in the five days we were there. Parking is available and you ski virtually to your door! The room was big and you can either book a room with a private shower or use the shared space in the basement which is small, clean and not busy during the month of February. Many bars and restaurants are within a 5-10 minute walk uphill but perfect at the end of the night! Be sure to try Shabu Shabu at the Samurai restaurant! So good! Next door to the Samurai restaurant is a cafe for traditional western breakfasts that were fresh, along with great coffee. There's also a donair food truck in the restaurant part of time that was to die for!
We love this Hotel and their staff, great service and they look after your every needs. Located directly opposite the Gondola, which is a short walk and a ski in on powder days. Jun and Maki always make us feel at home whilst Jeremy drives you to and from the train station and to other ski fields. This Hotel is in the best location for the best powder skiing in all of Japan.
The best features of this unpretentious hotel would be the friendly and helpful staff, the proximity to the ski slopes and the fact that the owners can't do enough to help. The rooms are fairly basic, but adequate and have radiators to heat them. My only criticism would be the fact that the beds were very hard, which might be a positive for some people.
Stayed here before purely due to location to Gondola and it’s cheap. Rooms are big. Had one with toilet and wash basin this time. Worked well. The hotel needs some repair work. Very tired, doors cracking, wallpaper falling off walls. Onsen opens at 4.30. No earlier. It’s locked. Can’t work out why. Breakfast, Western, it’s the better if the two, is tragic. Bread is so stale that when toasted it becomes s big crouton. Eggs are badly cooked and inedible. They try but need a hand from someone who can cook. We bought a loaf of bread in town and toasted it. So much better. If you want luxury not for you. Happy with basic and don’t mind 500 m walk into town, it would do you. Tip. If skiing at sugi for the day, grab the coupon at reception. It’s 1000 yen discount per person. Will check out prices and value next time we stay in myoko. Some new places have opened up. …
