We had an overnight stay this week! After having thought about the trip I wanted to get my thoughts down! First of all this was a surprise trip and a place I’ve wanted to visit for a while on entry the grounds were awesome! On check in my other half said she had a booking gave her name and it the receptionist walked off which didn’t give off a great first impression after a king minute she came back and gave us our keys and room. We were offered a Sherry on arrival but with no real commitment or it waiting for us - we both said no thank you. Then came the most confusing directions to the room anyway we got directed by a member of staff while trying to find the room. The room - we got the tower room which was perfect nothing at fault at all brilliant view brilliant facilities e.g tv in bath big comfy bed warm etc as I say can’t fault and if anything this was the best but for me having stayed in many different places this will be something I remember for a long while! However there was something that my other half had ordered and she was disappointed it wasn’t there which was a bottle of champagne. Sounds greedy but this had been ordered in advance along with strawberries and chocolate. This is where the customer service again lacked. She phoned downstairs and almost got doubted that she had. Anyway after 10 mins the agreed champagne arrived however no strawberries and chocolate again which was in the order just that they didn’t have any and again was doubted that we had this in our booking no apology. Anyway we the used the facilities which were exceptional that evening down at the pool and jacuzzi area so much choice good steam room and sauna also. Pool temp spot on!! Hydro pool also good! We then went upto the room and chilled and got ready before the meal. The menu was brilliant the food I really couldn’t fault at all. Fresh and good quality my portion size was on the small side but that was the dish I ordered so can’t grumble. Again the service didn’t feel personal and we did feel like a number it wasn’t very chatty and morale felt low in the restaurant which was the only tinge of disappointment. Again we felt the same for our after food drink the bay service was slightly more upbeat but you could tell they thought Monday and didn’t seem that bothered and almost felt like they wanted everyone to leave so they could go home. It feels negative but it was noticeable that the small touches throughout were missed for me it could and should have been 5 stars this review and with a little work and morale boosts this can be achieved. Again breakfast was decent although the advertised breakfast missed items and my granola got took away as my ‘ full’ breakfast arrived and I didn’t even get asked about this. When I enquiries about the missing items the waiter said he would check and they didn’t have them. Seems weird when they cater and know how many people they have for breakfast each morning to ‘run’ out. Anyway we had another spa session before checking out and ended up with treatments which was very good even if 25 mins felt more like 15 but the service in the spa was slightly more upbeat. Overall with a bit of leadership this really could and should have been a 5 but I left wondering this needs improving and would have to consider this hotel against others in the area in the future which is a shame as I only felt we scratched the surface of this hotel and the grounds.

We had a 5 night stay at Armathwaite Hall to recharge our batteries and we couldn't have picked a better hotel in terms of location, comfort, service, food and a lovely spa. Every morning we walked to the lakeside which is stunning. All the staff were so efficient and friendly. The service was first class and they were always willing to help. The hotel itself is wonderful and well refurbished. The spa treatments were very good and we loved the clealiness of the whole place. Our only small was that we had a 'courtyard' room but infact the courtyard is a car park which is also used as a trademen entrance. We heard cars coming and going in the early hours and also there was a large Council truck which came twice during out stay. Our room was 157, so if you're a light sleeper it might not be ideal. We were undisturbed otherwise and the room was well situated for the spa. The other small issue was that in the whole 5 days we dined each night in the hotel restaurant and the menu was the same during our stay. When we queried this on our last night we were informed that this was infact an oversight on their part as they usually do offer specials for longer term guests. These small issues did not spoil our stay.

Visited for half a day as they offer non-resident use of facilities. The facilities are very lovely and high quality the highlight for me was either the heated outdoor pool/jacuzzi or the indoor jacuzzi, but honestly impressed with the offering, from the pool to the heated rooms. Some small areas that could be improved are: * It was really disappointing that there wasn't space for a treatment. Feels like there was a miss opportunity for them to make more money and for my spa morning to be elevated. * There are drinks available but either only from 12, or you have to walk back through reception to get the coffee and tea, and the coffee is an individual packet job and it's not great... * The changing areas could do with more benches for changing.

Well where do I start? The whole experience of planning our wedding day from start to finish with Armathwaite Hall and there incredible team has been nothing short of brilliant. Despite the challenges arising from the pandemic, Aswell as having to rearrange our dates twice first due to the pandemic then secondly when we decided on a significant last minute change to our plans from a large wedding of 120 to only 8 guests. We were truly blown away with their understanding and helpful nature towards our situation. Phillipa Ball inparticular went above and beyond for us making sure every last detail was taken care of even going as far as communicating with our supplier's which was a huge help. Despite only having 8 guests Armathwaite Hall still allowed us to have our dream wedding exactly as we wanted but on a much smaller scale. Every member of staff we came across during our four night stay we’re so friendly and helpful, a special mention to the restaurant & bar team for being so kind and making a fuss of our little boy Charlie. He loved his stay at Armathwaite hall and didn't want to come home. (Neither did we, 🤫) Great Team & Great Management resulted in us having our dream wedding day in our dream venue. Thank you all so much. Mr & Mrs Robinson 30th September 2021

We arranged our runaway wedding to Armathwaite Hall as we love the Lake District and it’s one of our special places. We couldn’t have chose a better venue. The scenery and the grounds were amazing. Our wedding coordinator Philippa Ball was truly fantastic, she made arrangements so easy for us and so relaxing. Nothing was a trouble. Every little detail was catered for from wedding music to lip gloss, all those little technical hitches. The food was outstanding and the champagne was flowing, nothing seemed to be a bother. If you are planning a wedding at Armathwaite I would also recommend the spa to wind down before the ceremony or treat yourself to some pampering. We had the most fantastic and memorable day. All of it captured by our very talented photographer Stephen Walker. We didn’t get a chance to thank all the friendly and kind staff who looked after us from morning til night. We were so impressed we’ve booked up for our anniversary and even booked our vintage car Guinness who we had for a Lakeland tour driven by our chauffeur Mike Heaps from Vintage Lakeland Tours. Thank you so much to everyone involved for making our big day truly amazing and magical.
