What a lovely place to be. Great views. Lovely, personable hosts who talk to you like people not like clients. The room was super comfortable and well-equipped and the location was superb. She loved the variety of healthy breakfasts. He loved the quantity of breakfast(!). The lunchbox options were excellent when taking a walk up a Wainwright and the added bonus of borrowing a picnic blanket added to the personal touch. We loved it so much we're buying my parents a night there to go to The Lakes Distillery (just a short walk up the road) so there's no driving involved (safety first).

We have just returned from a two night stay at Lakeside whilst attending a wedding nearby. Our room was at the front of the building, large and bright with lovely views. The room was exceptionally clean with a modern bathroom. Breakfasts are excellent with generous portions and lots of choice. Tim and Karen are very warm and welcoming and are always on hand to offer advice on the local are.

Cute B&B where we were welcomed on arrival by the friendly Tim & Karen. Had a room that overlooked the mountains although we were unlucky with the weather so difficult to see. The bed was very comfortable and a modern bathroom with waterfall shower, which was great after long days of walking. The breakfast was fantastic, a great selection and locally sourced produce. It sets you up for the day.

We spent 2 nights at this guesthouse arriving on Sunday afternoon. It seemed all previous reviews were faultless and now we can see why. The hosts are so welcoming and helpful , and everything was spotlessly clean. Our room had a view right out across to Skiddaw and was very comfortable. We were in room no 5 which has a separate bathroom across the landing, this wasn’t a problem for us at all and the other rooms are en suite. Breakfast definitely lived up to the excellent reviews. Unfortunately we didn’t have great weather ( Lake District October what should you expect !! ). This did alter our plans for going on a hike up Sale Fell but we did have a gander up the Lane and onto the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake. It might have been grey and rainy but it was so mild . We visited Keswick en route to the guesthouse on Sunday afternoon. It is a lovely town surrounded by towering mountains and is on the shores of Derwent Water. I would recommend a visit to Keswick but even on a grey, damp Sunday in October it was still busy and quite challenging to find a space in the car parks. On Monday morning we then visited Cockermouth which is very close by. A much quieter town worth a visit too. It does seem a bus route calls close to the guesthouse connecting each town. Later on Monday we had a lovely afternoon tea at Bassenthwaite Lake Station which we had pre booked. It is just across the A66 very close by and is definitely worth a visit. They have an old steam train there with carriages that were used in the film ‘ Murder on The Orient Express’ . You can have a good look around the train while you are there. We also spent a few hours of both evenings at The Pheasant Inn pub which is no more than a 10 minute walk although at night it is very dark ! The pub is newly renovated with friendly staff and cosy surroundings. The menu was quite limited at the time but food was good. All in all, we loved our short stay here and would definitely go back. You always know how good a place is when your sad to leave it.

We had the most amazing stay at the Lakeside Country Guest House. The host Karen and Tim are going out of their way to help and their attention to detail is amazing. The location could not be better, a beautiful lake on the door step, quite and peaceful, but only 5 minutes drive away from Keswick, the best of both worlds. We booked 3 of the 5 rooms, every single one beautifully designed, with large, comfortable beds, lovely ensuits, little treats everywhere. All 6 of us agreed that the breakfast was the best we ever had anywhere. It looked all just like the photos on the website, the choice was unbelievable, the taste incredible. If you are looking for the perfect base in the Lake District, look no further. Thank you Tim and Karen! P.S. the photos are the views from our bedroom!
