We booked this hotel on-line going by the lovely photos and description of where it was, a short stroll into Collioure which straight away was wrong, it was at least 4-5 kms away. The location can only be described as the Bronx (lots of dodgy characters hanging around) and we were fearful of leaving our transport parked in the area as seriously thought it wouldn't be there in the morning! To be fair the room wasn't too bad if you ignored the Easyjet orange walls and the bedding was clean but the balcony door had no lock on it so we weren't confident about going out and leaving our stuff in the room. We actually went to see if the Ibis along the coast had any rooms as we really didn't want to stay but they were full, as were others we tried so had to stay put. Totally false advertising and would NOT recommend anyone stay at this hotel. We are not snobs by any means and subsequently stayed at 1* hotels for the rest of our trip and they far outshined this hell-hole!

I have stayed twice this year in an apartment. Nice accommodation, really nice staff. Beautiful views from the Hotel hill to the mountains toward Spain. Opposite railway station but not disturbing as double-glazed window. I enjoyed bus & train journeys to explore area, as cheap & convenient. My booking second time did not arrive at the Hotel, but the manager immediately offered me an upgrade at the same price to reassure me,in an apartment rather than hotel room.

Room Tip: This place is known for the famous artists that stayed around there; It's not a modern place!...

We booked the hotel online based on the city it was situated in, but more importantly the lovely pictures on the website. The price was by no means cheap, $150 a night, so we felt it had to be decent..., It was a joke! There are absolutely no views other than the local railway station. Some of the website pics are from the centre of town a few blocks away - sneaky. Noise trains passing by all night!!! Noisy vagrants in the station parking lot. Shared toilets - at $150 a night! No air con or ventilation so we had to keep the windows open - did I mention the noisy trains. Soap comes in little disposable sachets - like ketchup. I've never seen anything this "cheap" before. I can carry on.... In a nutshell, just give this place a miss!!! Seriously!!

It was better than what we have expected My family and i reserved this hotel last week. We got really surpriced of the service and specially because they are multilingual. They welcomed us in English and we got really enthusiastic. The studio that we had was totally complet and clean. The port was only 5 minutes away by walking and there you have everything. We only stayed for the weekend, but we will sure return to the small city of port vendres. We had a problem with our car that didn’t work, so we couldn’t travel in car to Collioure, luckily the train station was right in front of the hotel, and it passed every hour. So we took the train and in only 5 minutes we were in Colliure.

The résidence Béar, hôtel Béar, Arcades is all under the same ownership, and management if you can call it that. On arrival we managed to find the lady doing her work experience behind the bar, never saw the manager. She knew of our reservation but not the one that was confirmed 10 days before our arrival, she blamed the computer software. We walked outside to the other building but the lady could not even open the door to the room as the key did not work. This was the double room we had booked, but we were then told it had a shared toilet on the landing with another room. May be it was good that the key did not work in the lock. We then went up to the top floor to a so called apartment. We got in here, after a climb of 3 flights of stairs with our bags, to find a cold room with no electricity. After finding the mains power switch ourselves, as the lady had no clue, we decided to stay. There was a double bed in the room at the back, a small bathroom and a kitchen / living area with a sofa bed for 2 more people. The kitchen was well equipped, there was hot water for the shower, so things were looking up. We got the fan heaters working, so the place was a little warmer, but then we had the worst nights sleep ever in the most uncomfortable bed with the back ground noise of the freight trains going through the station over the road. Would not recommend this to anyone unless you were very desperate. You get what you pay for.
