Location is ok, pretty near by the sea.
Restaurant in the hotel is not too good, I tried, but I can't recommend.
Breakfast is almost just different kinds of buns (and white bread). There is fruits, but not any vegetables. Not even tomatoes... There is boiled eggs, ham, cheese, omelette with potatoes.. But that's almost all.
The hotel has thin walls, you can here when your neighbor is using a shower or toilet. You can also here steps from upper floor and corridor.
AC is not working too well. It is hard to get the room to be chiller or ever dryer.
Cleaning the room... They moved my personal stuff, and lifted my shoes on my clothes. Not too nice.
The Alameda hotel is a good place to stay in Zarautz. The hotel has been modernized and is well taken care of. The room is comfortable and the bed kingsize bed is very good. There is an elevator and there is indoor parking in the hotel' lower level. The staff speaks English and is friendly and helpful. There is a restaurant and full bar. The breakfast buffet is very good. The rice is quite reasonable given the location. The hotel is two blocks from the beach, and the beach is reputed to be the longest on this coast. It is a surfing center, and deservedly so. The promenade along the beach is not to be missed.
It was the underground parking (supplement) that attracted me to this hotel as much as the location, one block away from the beach and a short walk to the old town with its many bars. Our room was on the top floor with restricted head height in places and served by a lift. Older in style and with the window facing onto the balconies of an apartment block.
Decent option for the convenience afforded by its location and the underground parking.
This was a last minute booking for us. We had intended to stay in San Sebastian but accommodation seemed very expensive and not much available. Glad we chose the Alameda and Zaurautz. Although only 2-star the hotel had all that we needed: comfortable bed, en suite and air con. Admittedly the walls were thin but we were lucky with our neighbours. The hotel clientele was mostly middle aged to elderly while we were there so less likely to be noisy? Staff were courteous and reception staff spoke good English. Breakfast was a bit basic but enough choice. Didn't eat in the restaurant. No outside area to relax in but hotel is about 5 mins walk from the beach and there's a quiet shady park with benches across the road.
The station is 2 minutes away; Zarautz is on the line between Bilbao (2hr 40m) and San Sebastian (30min) and 4km by bus or on foot from Getaria, pretty fishing village.
Would stay again if in the area.
Nice hotel and excellent location, near beach and train station. Great restaurant and good food, Very nice staff, nice bed and good sized room. Lift from car park and free parking..can't get better for this area..
