My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 7 nights in July. We booked a 2 bedroom apartment as it looked generally a bit nicer/more spacious than the 1 bedroom. We arrived rather early (1pm due to an early flight from Edinburgh). Immediately we were offered hand sanitiser and our temperatures were taken. All staff members were wearing masks and social distancing was easily achieved. This was a reassuring start on our first vacation since the easing of Covid lockdown. Our room was not ready so we were invited to have a complimentary drink at the pool bar, Starfish. We were off to a five star beginning.
When we got our our room a little earlier than the usual check in time we were very impressed. The apartments are modern, sparkling clean and include everything needed for a fantastic stay. Although, my wife and I travelled alone, we have 2 small children and we would not hesitate to return with them. The suites are ideal for families also. We were treated to the most fantastic view of the ocean from our suite (5th floor). The balcony is very spacious and includes sun loungers, a dining table and a comfortable seating area with coffee table. It really was faultless. Waking up to the magnificent view/sound of the ocean every morning was one of the best elements our our stay.
How well you feel the hotel is located is very dependant on what you seek from your vacation in Tenerife. This hotel is located in La Caleta where myself and wife have visited/stayed many times. It is a quiet area in Adeje with a sleepy harbour surrounded by restaurants (Mostly seafood of a very high standard). If you are looking to have bars and nightlife very close by, you might be disappointed. There is however a bus route (467) that leads into the centre of Las Americas where there is a more lively scene. A taxi will cost roughly 10 euros each way.
Unfortunately some amenities at the hotel were closed during our stay but we expected that this may be the case. The Asian restaurant San Ho and the rooftop restaurant/bar, Maresia, I believe have still not reopened even as I write this review. It might be best to get an idea from the hotel directly when these will reopen before you book if this is important to you. The restaurants that are open are Starfish which as I mentioned earlier, is a poolside bar and includes an 'Atlantic Grill' eatery with a daytime/lunch menu serving lovely snacks/cocktails. Try the spicy tempura prawns! They are amazing. We did not get a chance to eat here in the evening but the menu did look good with a selection of seafood/meats on offer.
Also open at the moment is the hotel's Italian restaurant, Il Bocconcino. We decided to eat here one evening. I must say that we were a little disappointed. It pains me to write this as we otherwise had a fantastic experience. The food was very expensive for what was actually being served. To a certain extent, we expect this from a 5 star hotel's restaurant but in this instance, it was very glaring. The service left a lot to be desired also. At the start of our meal, we were asked if we would like some homemade bread with rosemary and oil/balsamic vinegar. We accepted but it never actually came. I asked one of the waiting staff for it during the main course but he returned with just regular crusty bread with no oil/balsamic. I think a problem with the service is that the tables seem to be served by multiple waiters rather than just one person looking after a single group of diners. This leads to confusion regarding what has been already served and customer requests can be missed. Most of the waiting staff appeared disorganised throughout the evening but we are willing to concede that this may have just been teething problems from the hotel's reopening after coming out of a long lockdown. We are certainly reluctant to be too hard on them as I am sure they were trying their best. The location of the restaurant is also quite underwhelming, it's just in the breakfast buffet area and you can still see the tables out from breakfast so it hardly gives the impression of an exclusive area as you would perhaps hope for in a restaurant like this.
We booked room only so didn't have breakfast included. One morning we had breakfast in the room which was very nice and had a generous selection of hot food, pastries and fruit. It was €25 each which is maybe a bit steep but not unexpected in a 5 star resort. Due to us having such a good experience with the room service breakfast we decided to go down to the buffet one morning and didn't have quite the same experience. It felt distinctly average eating at the buffet and we much preferred the room service breakfast.
Overall, our experience of Corales Suites is very good. Every member of staff at the hotel is friendly and helpful. Shout out to the gentleman at reception who works so hard to please. (Apologies, I cannot remember his name but he was fantastic). The cleaning staff are doing a wonderful job and must not miss out on the recognition. The hotel is spotless and they clearly work incredibly hard to keep it that way (housekeeping is offered twice a day). Safety measures are implemented perfectly and we felt 100% safe during our stay. The suites are perfect for couples or a family stay. We will certainly be returning and are looking forward to trying the other restaurants/bars the hotel has to offer when they reopen.
