I traveled with my daughter to Altamura in late August and booked this delightful place in the city centre. Il Claustro means courtyard and the rooms are positioned around the little squared courtyard, it s a very quiet setting. The room was spacious, beautifully designed with original ceilings and superb bathroom in the local stone. It is located just a few minutes walk to the Cattedrale and the main high street with restaurants and shops. There is parking space in the square around the corner from the Claustro.
The host is Vittoria, who is very friendly lady and full of advice on places to see and visit. She suggested us a great restaurant for typical cuisine tasting and a cook herself, she baked us two typical Apulian cakes for breakfast.
We had been visiting most of the Salento region and my daughter absolutely loved this place the most. I can only but warmly recommend this little jem of a place in Altamura.

Our room was spacious so pretty and the first thing that struck me was the beautiful smell when we entered. The towels smelled pretty as well . Conveniently situated near the town centre. Unfortunately our breakfast wasn't in the hotel due to construction work and the cafe that served as on behalf of the hotel was just disappointing.

I was in Altamura for holiday reasons. Vittoria is an amazing host, she gave me a very warm welcome in this amazing accommodation situated inside a typical "Claustro" (The "claustri" are typical squares or wide opening on the main streets of the historic center of Altamura)."Il Claustro" is a little jewel, located in a quiet area in the city center. Vittoria have furnished all the rooms with well-chosen materials and lots of love for the detail. The room is beautiful. Also i really enjoyed the breakfast prepared by Vittoria: an incredible home made cake, jam, cookies, milk and coffee and others delicious specialties from Apulia. This location now is my new favorite one in Altamura!

rooms are very well arranged and they show a simple but sophisticated touch for details not easy to find in B&B of such range. Each room has independent entrance from a beautiful typical courtyard. Very clean and well maintained.
The breakfast is abundant and healthy, and my wife and I still remember the cake with carrots walnuts and chocolate that the very nice lady managing the place prepared for the day.
The location can be reached by skilled drivers by car, able to drive in the micro-roads of the original old city-center, a small square with car parks is adjacent to the B&B. Although only residents are allowed to move by car in the center, Il Claustro can release a short term permit and deal directly with the local police. This is very useful and important, just ask the lady for further info.
Absolutely recommended!!!
