I have stayed in this hotel for 2 nights with family. We had a lovely time and we were really lucky as on Saturday the Hotel had an organised trek with a tourist guide up to the mountain, also there was live music in the evening.
Most or the staff members are really nice and welcoming, but there are some exceptions, however, this could happen anywhere... The waiters and waitresses are working hard and the service is good and fast.
The buffet dinner could be better. Selection is good, however, the food was too oily with not too many choices of healthy food....
The Spa is really nice, however, a deep cleaning of the pool would be advised as there were moulds at the edges of the swimming pool.
This Hotel has all the Spa facilities what you could except and I think with a little refurbishment and a but more care they could easily have 4 stars... ;)
We spent 3 nights in the hotel. There are two wings, we stayed in the Erzsébet Wing, it's the older one with no airconditioner, but the view was great to the park side. We were in Room 1003 and it was comfortable, clean with a biggish bathroom (with hair drier). The kitchen was simply great, we had buffet breakfast and dinner in the package, it was one of the best ever. The other great thing was the nature around, with a stream, a park and lots of walking paths in the neighbouring forests. The hotel organises activities: nordic walking every second day, a long trekking, aqua fitness (which wasn't a big hit in my opinion). At the reception check every time which program will be held that day. The wellness is quite good, there's a gym, a sauna complex, which operates from 7am to late night! with an aroma sauna, a Finnish sauna and a salt cabin. plus two indoor pools with underwater massage and a pool outside for swimming (but it gets full quite quickly). It's absolutely a Paradise for children, huge playground outside and games inside, even board games to borrow at the reception.
This was our first time there and we only spent a Saturday night. The weather was fine so we could enjoy the outdoor pool with a lot of sunbeds around.
The hotel and the rooms were really clean and the two wellness areas were really enjoyable.
Food was excellent, not a huge variety but really enough as everything was tasty.
Staff was nice and the surroundings fabulous.
We will definitely return and for a longer stay.
nice and cheap hogel with beautifull view. The kitchen is very good and it has lot of leisure time activities (pool etc..) The Mátra is beautifull you can go to long trips. The wellness area is great.
We stayed 5 nights at the hotel just before the October bank holiday weekend.
Good things: Our room located at the Zsuzsanna wing was spacious, clean the first day, had a small fridge (mini bar), and the bed was quit big. There were 3 saunas, altough in 2 separate locations. The location of the hotel is perfect for discovering the Matra hills.
Bad things: At the check in we did not get the room we had booked. The couple checking in before us had the same issue. We at the end got the room we wanted in the Zsuzsanna (new) wing, but we needed to pay extra for the balcony. Not once they cleaned our room during our stay. The bed had 2 individual mattresses which kept moving around all the time. The tv was extremely small. The walls between room were very thin, you could here people talking next door. The food was low quality, with no selection, at dinner they served old style Hungarian meals with no healthy option at all. The coffee was bad. The dining room became too small as soon as people started to arrive to spend the long weekend. The wellness area (swimming pool, 2 jacuzzis, 2 smaller pools, 3 saunas, a salt room and a steam room) was ok but again way too small for that many people, and with no separate pool for children, and no lifeguard at all. The steam room was in a terribly bad shape.
All in all, with some small changes, renovations and investment this could be a great place, for now, it is not.
