We arrived at Santander by ferry, very late and although it's not far to Torrelavega we didn't arrive till well after 2300 hrs. But the owner waited and let us in to our room.
The room was beautifully decorated and the bed was comfortable. Our only criticism is that there was no A/c or fan and it was quite humid and with the window open there was some noise from the town with rubbish removal and people calling out loud. Unfortunately this is not somewhere to stay if you have arrived by car and have any baggage as the nearest parking is about 200 metres away and when we arrived and later left it was raining, though of course this is not the hotels fault it is certainly something I shall now look for when booking.
Tres camp extravaganza of a place! Just a few rooms in a building but decorated with high campness, glitz and glamour. We loved our stay apart from the negatives below.
Car parking costs added almost €20 to the bill, which makes this an expensive stay plus our toilet was behind a clear glass screen with no privacy from the room. Also be careful to note that when booking through booking.com on arrival you will be offered their cheapest twin-bedded room then asked for more money (€15) to upgrade to a double bed.
This is the B&B I always hoped to find one day. Puerto del Sol is wonderful. Why? Well, I found it on the Internet, 1.5 hrs drive away, past the official check-in time. I called and la signora still agreed to wait for my arrival and greet me warmly.
The B&B, situated in the pedestrianised middle of town, is beautifully: every room is airy and lovingly decorated. Water, juice and a biscuit are provided. The bed is super comfy, the bathrooms generously sized and well-equipped.
I loved every single moment and stayed longer than originally planned, simply because the lovely B&B in this laid-back, charming town.
Breakfast is to be head within 50 yards either direction as you step outside.
Would I go back? I'd detour anytime to go back. What a find. It will remain one of my most loved and preferred places ever.
Ok, one thing you may want to be a in mind: parking is somewhat of a saga in Torrelavega and you better be prepared to spend some time to find a spot. But then...you will have a great hnght sleep without any traffic noise.
This was our first night and we had driven the short distance from the ferry at Santander. The hotel is central and our room overlooked a quiet central square. It was beautifully furnished and it only took me around 5 minutes to work out how to operate the very high tech shower!
The owner was really helpful and recommended a great restaurant close by.
We parked our car in an underground car park about 5 minutes walk away.
