The staff, the location, the food and the quirky rooms are amazing. My sister and I travelled from Australia to visit our sister in Heidelberg hospital who sadly passed away during our visit. The staff at this hotel were genuinely thoughtful and caring in their support of us. They put flowers in our room and a card signed by all the staff when they knew we were suffering. I can not recommend this hotel highly enough. We came home from the hospital each night to be welcomed like we were family. Our gratitude is immense and we will always remember the MarktPlatz hotel and beautiful Weinheim with great fondness. Thank you
I've stayed several times in this hotel. Staff is very kind and breakfast is good. Nevertheless, I don't like the rooms, chair and table are veery small and bathroom and towels could be improved. To get internet connection is difficult or connection very low. Good point is you are in the middle of the city!
This hotel is centrally located in the middle of the Markplatz with many restaurants to choose from nearby. Visited this place in the middle if the 2016 Euro soccer tournament and experience a fantastic vibe. The room was big with free water and fruit provided. However, walls are extremely thin .... might be a disturbance early in the morning but really did not bother me. The surroundings, vibe in the area and friendly staff make up for this. Was here on business but would like to take my family back this town . Wifi is tricky, but so was my experience with the other 2 hotels I stayed at in Germany. I could only access wifi outside in front of the hotel door.
Right in the middle of the Marketplatz in the centre of Weinheim. The staff are helpful and friendly.
The hotel is old of course and full of character, but a bit faded.
I was given room 4 which is an apartment on two stories. Nice room but again a bit faded And lacked a certain level of comfort. The heating was poor and the top floor which was the bedroom, the radiator never got past like warm.
Also some nice touches though. Fruit in the room and bottled water. Breakfast was good and plentiful.
I stayed here for a few nights in June because my usual choice was unavailable. I appreciated the central location and the excellent food at the hotel's restaurant. My room was up one steep flight of stairs, overlooking a roof. It was clean and included a lovely bowl with fruit and some complimentary bottles of water. Breakfast was good. There was wifi.
Now, for the problems. My room was fairly dark even when I turned the lights on. The wooden staircase and landing went directly past my door and when people used them, it sounded like elephants coming up the steps. There's no air conditioning and it was very hot.
When I tried to leave the room, I was stuck. The key and the door were very difficult to maneuver. This happened both mornings as I had locked the door during the night. It took me many minutes of pushing, pulling and turning to get the door open. Apparently the heat had either caused some expansion in the frame, or it was somehow warped. There are no telephones in the room so I was unable to call for help.
As mentioned, the room was extremely hot so it was necessary to open the window to cool it down. I saw that the neighboring, window was also open (see photo). Unfortunately, that occupant was a very, very loud snorer and kept me awake most of the night. When I thought I'd catch a few z's during the next afternoon, I had just fallen asleep when banging and hammering began...some sort of construction I suppose.
I realize that some of these things are out of the control of the owners and are caused by the age of the building. Readers should however, be aware.
