I absolutely loved this lodge. It was sparkling clean and the check in was friendly and easy. There is a WONDERFUL Mexican restaurant right in the back parking lot. The room encompass a plaza type garden with a fountain and is lush and landscaped. There are French doors to the rooms, and each room has a door going outside the room to a patio or sitting area. In the evening I sat out and enjoyed the wildlife. I heard coyotes, and saw a raccoon, and watched birds from the porch. There are also swallows' nests in the courtyard, and I appreciate that the owners did not knock them down. The room was comfy and decorated in fine furniture, some antique. Linens sparkling clean and fresh.
On the downside, the rooms don't have coffee makers so bring your own or bring instant, as there is a microwave and refrigerator. The other downside is, no windows. The louvered doors offer plenty of sunlight, however no fresh air. There is air conditioning and heat in the room though.
In conclusion, would I recommend this motel? Indeed I would, and I would stay there again!
We recently stayed at this lodge enroute from New Mexico to home near Austin, TX. Very attractive facility and appears of fairly recent construction ca. 2007. Well planned room (no. 17) with Italianate decor and furnishings, including attractive tile work. Maintenance is somewhat short. A dangling exposed light fixture in the shower was disturbing in thoughts of safety. The locks on the front and back doors did not engage well, leaving a security concern. Minor paint touchups would do much to restore the original quality of the room. One lamp was inoperable due to broken switch. The design of the a/c blew very cold air on the right side of the king-size bed, forcing one to the middle of the bed. Would we visit again? Yes, but would prefer a room with a smaller bed farther from the a/c. Don't believe the 2007 website still alive concerning prices. They have doubled.
You'll be charged more than advertised for your room and there is no internet much less High Speed. When you log on you'll watch the wheel spin forever then get kicked off. If you ain't got it don't advertise it. Used to be family friendly now just fracker friendly. I guess they're making a killing with the fracking workers. Go somewhere else.
While this place has many good points, as mentioned by other visitors, we were terribly disappointed with our visit. First of all, we were charged $30 more per night for our room than what was advertised on the website. At $120 a night plus tax, I thought the room was overpriced. The pillow cases were stained, the room looked dinghy. Also, the room we were in (#1) was right next to an equipment room with some electrical equipment (water heater?) that emitted a loud zooming sound (through the walls) that kept us awake half the night. Finally, our room was close to the reception area and we were woken up by other guests leaving early even though they only talked normally (not too loudly). Needless to say we will not be returning.
My room is beautiful and clean. It seems to have been newly remodeled (room 19). Snacks and water in room is a nice touch. The Chicken Americana at their restaurant is fantastic!!! I wasn’t a fan of the margarita. I ordered one on the rocks and it was carbonated. Weird. I didn’t drink it. When the server asked, I said I didn’t like it and ordered wine instead. I still had to pay for it. But for $3.75, i didn’t complain. Service is lacking and it’s clear one was new. Still, good food and I’m not in a hurry. I kept it at 5 stars since technically I’m reviewing the hotel. The lady who checked me in was very pleasant. I loved my room. The pics doesn’t do it any justice, trust me. It was their more expensive room...very spacious. Towels are soft. Bed very comfortable.
