The Prospect Hotel, while truly being the ideal base for day tripping to Crater Lake, is also a wonderful experience all in itself. The grounds are filled with beautiful plants and trees of all types, and the nearby falls are a short and relatively easy walk away. Our room, the "Zane Grey", was very comfortable with it's own bathroom, and nice touches reflecting the author who had once stayed at the property. Breakfast, prepared by Nick, was a delicious helping of Hazelnut French Toast, and a special omelet surprise like we've never experienced, both with a side of fresh fruit.
The owner, Fred, couldn't have been more pleasant and informative about the area, offering many suggestions for day trips and dining.
We highly recommend taking the opportunity to experience the serenity this establishment has to offer.

Was evacuated from Butte Falls during a pandemic (double whammy). Hotel staff was very kind and accommodating. (I was traveling with 2 cats). Staff went the extra mile. Location is beautiful... right across the street from a babbling river. (you can hear it from my room).

Perfect choice for a weekend exploring Crater Lake and the surrounding area. The B&B includes breakfast which was creative and a hearty portion. We loved the hazelnut French toast. The dinner was also outstanding with a wonderful serving of lasagne and prime rib. The room was comfortably small. We enjoyed listening to the crickets with the window wide open. Overall, it was a memorable weekend and the staff worked hard to make sure all of our needs were met.

Located in beautiful southern Oregon, there’s spectacular waterfalls just down the street, nearby hiking or snowshoeing and of course about 45-60
Minutes away from breathtaking Crater Lake National Park. We were there for cross country skiing along the rim. Only the west entrance is open this time of year which gets you to the visitors center and lodge. Traction devices or chains are a good idea for traveling on the road though the forest service does an admirable job of plowing .
Fred and Karen are wonderful, warm ,hosts. The hotel/motel has been has been lovingly preserved. Food is quite good in the dining room.

My wife and I stayed here a few years ago and it was a perfect distance from Crater Lake, which was great. The owners and staff were very kind and the dinner we had was fantastic! (we had steak and salmon). Dinner was better than breakfast, but that happens. Our room was clean and quiet, but we had no control over the temperature in our room, which was unfortunate since it was July. It was an overall nice place to stay and it was a great jumping point to Crater Lake!

Answer from Fred W

Hi Cynthia, We do allow cats in our motel units, not in the Historic Hotel Bed and Breakfast Inn . However we do not allow any animals to stay in the rooms unattended. While most pets are not an issue we have had the occasion where the pet was "not" happy being left alone in a strange place and was very 'vocal' about it. Their singing was not appreciated by the guests in the room next door napping. Sorry but we have had to implement a policy on no animals being left unattended.
