My husband and I stayed at Buckland Studio 4 for two nights as we celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary. To say it was an utterly romantic, relaxing and magical stay would be a complete understatement. As soon as we entered the luxurious studio we were gobsmacked by its beauty and warmth. It's styled so nicely, very well kept and just stunning in its design. The studio was cosy and warm due to the roaring fire that was put on in time for our arrival. The bathroom and huge double shower, with it's stunning view completely blew our mind. We walked through to the bedroom with its soft bedding and another stunning view. Finally, the kitchen and lounge are so well equipped we contemplated convincing the hosts to let us move into the studio forever!
The views from both balconies, of Buckland Valley and Mt Buffalo, are unrivaled.
We arrived to a gorgeous breakfast hamper waiting for us on the kitchen counter. There was also a big box of chocolates and bottle of local wine on the dining table; which Mel kindly helped me organise (at the last minute!) for our arrival!
Mel and Dave were fantastic hosts who were so accommodating and helpful. Nothing was too much and they provided tips regarding where to hire snow chains locally before we ventured up Mt Buffalo.
We can't wait to come back and soak up the serene environment that the Studio sits on.
Stayed for 4 nights in studio 3 and had a great time. Breakfast basket provided was super generous - didn’t get through it all!
The cabin is really well appointed.
Some tips as these were things I was looking for when researching and couldn’t find them
- the studios are sequentially ordered from the main driveway (ie studio 1 everyone will drive past, studio 5 is at the end)
- the bedroom has a view and large windows looking up into bushland behind.
- the bathroom has a huge glass window looking into the bushland (also private)
- the views into Buckland Valley & towards Mt Buffalo are spectacular
- there is no oven in the studio 3 but a pretty decent kitchen otherwise.
- 15mins drive into Bright or 10mins to Porepunkah.
- book everything in advance (activities or restaurants) due to COVID restrictions on # of guests right now!
We had an excellent time and will return!
What an amazing find this place is! Absolutely beautiful views of the surrounding hills, quiet spot down Buckland Valley. First time staying in this special pocket of the Alpine Valley. The hosts, Dave and Melany, are amazing - with very close attention to style and detail. The studio is very well furnished, private and comfortable. Views from every room, and fantastic double shower with full bush panorama (but still private).
We opted for the special champagne package on arrival, which I would highly recommend!
This was our second visit and we stayed in Studio 5 each time, the studio is the ideal layout and the views of Mt Buffalo are spectacular from the bed and the living room, the hosts are really nice to talk to and their breakfasts were great
My wife and I spent 4 nights in studio 4 during July and loved it. Check-in is very simple - just drive to your studio and all the information is provided there. The cabin is incredible with a kitchen, dining table, lounge room (fireplace, tv etc), storage, bedroom, bathroom etc. The couches are all very comfortable, there is plenty of wood etc for the fireplace (which we used every night!), and there's air con / heating available too. The king bed was great with views to trees etc outside - you really feel part of the scenery! Bathroom with double shower heads and big glass window (that can be covered with blinds if preferred) is lovely. There were two decks with table and chairs to soak up the spectacular view of snow-capped Mt Buffalo. Breakfast is served every day other than Wednesday, with cooked (bacon, eggs, tomato, toast) and cold (yoghurt, cereal, cheeses, breads etc) options plus juice, coffee, tea etc. All very nice! Wifi is available in the breakfast area but not in the rooms. I had enough reception to make calls and use data from the cabin, so this wasn't a problem.
We first met the owners on a walk around the property and they were lovely. They care for many animals simply because they love animals (like their 'retired' goats, adopted beagle, horses etc). We had many great conversations with them, and I look forward to meeting them again when we return!
The local area is great and only a short drive to Bright and Porepunkah. Bright is a lovely little town with great dining options (Bright Brewery, Cherry Walk Cafe, Tomahawks are all fantastic!) and a nice riverside walk. Snow chains can be hired in Porepunkah for the trip up Mt Buffalo (easy drive) while there are also a few great wineries nearby.
The only minor complaints were the air con seemed to stop working through the night sometimes and was slightly noisy, and the bed was slightly hard for our preferences (but that's really a personal thing).
Can't wait to come back to this amazing place!
