We stayed one night at the Tahoe House in November,2020. The hospitality was above our expectations. Brianna and Paul were very welcoming, offering help with luggage, advice about what to see and where to eat, as well as conversation. They were very generous with their time. The room was lovely , with really high ceilings and what appeared to be original doors and hardware. A small TV was tucked away in an armoire. The bed was comfortable, and furniture that seemed like it could have been there 100 years ago. We enjoyed a drink at the bar (included), and a nice continental breakfast in the morning. If we are ever near Virginia City again, we will stay at the Tahoe House!
First time back to Virginia City in over 50 years,I was very small. By accident we ended up at Tahoe House Hotel and are so thrilled we did! The hotel is smack in the middle of everything. Step out its door onto the boardwalk and go in any direction and explore history, shops, bars, restaurants, tours and more.
The hotel is 15 wonderful rooms plus a private cottage in back. It also has a full bar and you can sit on its balcony and enjoy your breakfast or afternoon drink while watching everything below happening. Some of the rooms have own balcony looking at the action below but we had a wonderful little room in back by its backyard garden area. Step out back and get some quiet time in the patio grass area and even got to have a smoke in back while enjoying our cocktails.
Paul, the owner, watches every little detail and has your needs and time there his priority!
Architecture is wonderful with high ceilings and in room baths and fans as well as tv! Lots of artifacts and architectural detail adds to the ambiance. I can't imagine staying anywhere else!! One couple we met had left their hotel that was highly rated everywhere but very disappointed with its location. They stayed here and like us couldn't believe what a difference and wonderful surprise!
I highly recommend staying here and you will regret if you dont!
Paul and Brianna warmly welcomed us to the Tahoe House. We stayed in the Mark Twain Study (room #1). It was on the smaller side, but we were comfortable and appreciated the large deck area overlooking C Street. The building is old and the hotel’s charm is in the adherence to the history of Virginia City, in which it is centrally located. There is WiFi available but we did not use it as our cell signal was just fine. Any issues we had or needs we presented were quickly handled by Paul or Brianna. The whole place was clean and there was plenty of historic pieces to look at. The continental breakfast was more than adequate for our needs.
Virginia City is host to an eclectic cast of characters and staying in the town is highly interesting!
We greatly enjoyed our nights at the Tahoe House and we plan to visit again in the near future.
Tips: parking can be tricky...there are spots out front on the street, and parking behind on B Street. I recommend (If possible), parking on B to unload as it’s downhill to the hotel, and park on C when leaving as it’s downstairs.
What a wonderful hotel! The owners are amazing and the hotel felt warm and charming. The room was clean and beautifully decorated. Centered in the heart of Virginia City, the hotel was easily accessible to all the attractions. The guest experience was phenomenal and I would absolutely stay here again.
You won’t regret it!
I was on a motorcycle trip, following the Pony Express. The Pony does not go thought Virginia City but I had read so much about the town I wanted to stay the night and so glad I did. The town is worth visiting.
The location of the place is in the heart of town. Their location could not be any better. I was called while I was about 30 minutes away to see if any rooms were available. There were and I went straight there. I was checked in quickly and professionally and offered a beer in the sitting room once I got settled in. After a long day that was appreciated.
The room, although small, was clean as was the bathroom with a very comfortable bed.
The only slight drawback was the breakfast. Most B&B have a full breakfast. This one had some pastries, coffee, juice and I thing cereal. That maybe because if Covid and normally there is a full breakfast.
Great place, nice room, fantastic location, kind, professional and knowledgeable staff. I would stay here again.
