Room was comfortable, very clean, and the bed was wonderful. There's a nice pool too. Oh and they have a water dispenser that the guests can freely get from. That's a nice touch.
Service both from the owner himself and the two staff are warm, personal and made us feel welcome.
Food is not as cheap but well worth it!
We checked in quite late on April 20 after a long 3 hours drive from Iloilo City. We were both tired and hungry, but the very warm reception from the staff made the tiring trip well worth it. Thanks to Jonalyn and Dennis who immediately made us feel welcome.
We were given the Attic Room which was large and had a large bathroom with Jacuzzi.
The location is a bit far from the national highway but we had a rented car so it wasn't a problem. The food at the in-house restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced considering the big servings and the quality. We particularly liked the tropical pizza, the maya-maya sinigang and pancit canton. The complimentary Filipino breakfast of either tocino, longganisa or daing na bangus was very good too.
All the staff we met (Jonalyn, sha sha, Dennis and the rest) were all attentive, friendly and hardworking. They took care of all the guests like family. Our little one loved the pool.
The only negative things I can mention are the following: (1) our room was not made up on the following day. The towels and bed sheets were not replaced. Maybe we should have requested, but we were accustomed to these being automatically done daily, and (2) the coffee served in the restaurant is the 3 in 1 variety. I didn't think that brewed coffee was more expensive, for after all the hotel charges Php 50 per cup. But really these are no big deals for us and these small issues did not affect our high rating for La Parola. We will be back when the opportunity comes in the future if only to experience once again the warm hospitality of the people in Antique in general, and the staff at La Parola in particular.
La Parola Orchids Beach Resort
Booked in for 2 nights the end of February with my Wife, daughter and extended Family. We stayed in the Family Apartment.
Very basic indeed. The door the the apartment had no lock! No working light in main bedroom, TV did not work, Bathroom was a state shower leaking, cracked toilet, mould around the bath. No AC in main room we had to ask for a fan. The light in the bedroom was changed. We had too wait for the owners explanation why the TV did not work, he had not got round to connect it. These issues should have been resolved before we had checked in.
Surprisingly we where the only guests staying. Why did the food take so long? We had breakfast lunch and dinner here. The food was of reasonable quality but way overpriced. We ordered A whole chicken and got four pieces. Spaghetti and meat balls charged as two meals. I would stick with the native food as the western imitations are very dissapointing.
An awkward fusion of European and native styles on a budget. The kids loved the pool but on the last day it was as green as pea soup. No direct access to the beach.
Very Friendly and attentive but need more training in hotel and restaurant management.
The Owner has a benign indifference of what goes on at this resort and need to engage with staff and guests to ensure a more harmonious experience. To add insult to injury we where charged 5% for paying by card. This was not explained on the web site or the resort. Antique is an up and coming tourist destination. Lets hope we can have more players with more innovation and determination.
How to get there: We rode a motorcycle from Patnongon poblacion to La Parola. It's few minutes away from the market. However, we had a hard time locating the place since it is situated in a very secluded area.
Tip: If you want to go there by commuting, you better request the driver to pick you up since there is no public vehicles within the premises.
Entrance Fee: We paid 100 pesos per person for those who will use the pool and cottage is free. I have no idea about the beach area but I heard they have pool parties every Friday or Saturday night (not sure).
Food: They have variety of delicious foods to offer. I love their club house/sandwich! The price is reasonable and affordable. Nevertheless, you can bring your own food without corkage granted that you will order something from the resort.
Pool: It was quiet small but their landscaping is good. Better visit during weekdays to avoid the crowd. Swimming attire should be observed. Nevertheless, if you haven't brought with you your swimsuits, do not worry because they have swim wear for rent.
CR: Very clean and well maintained.
The resort itself has a touch of luxury and they have wall art sculpture featuring village life. We also took pictures of the main attraction of the resort which is the "Parola" or the light house.
Visited last August 2015
I have stayed at La Parola on a number of occasions over the last 3 years and have enjoyed everyone of them. This resort hotel us run by a lovely couple ( German man and his Filipino wife) supported by a great staff. The resort has good facilities, especially a brilliant swimming pool which is always maintained to a high standard. The choice of food is great, catering for both local and international/German cuisine. In my option, probably the best place in Antique at exceptional value.
