we had a great time, awesome poolside room. Very clean hotel and very comfortable bed and pillows, u don't get that often but here you do. The coolest thing was u can play ping pong which my wife and i loved!! And great gym as well. Will definitely be back again for our dates
I recently stayed here for a few nights while visiting family. First impression is that the lobby is clean and modern, and the front desk staff is very kind and helpful! Our room, the gym, and pool area were also clean and modern. (The only downside is that the pool area would get extremely hot in the afternoon, way beyond what is normal for an indoor pool which I realize can get very warm). Also the grounds were very well kept and all security features were in good, working order.
We stayed in the Master Suite which had a King size bed, which was very comfortable! The room was very spacious and had a refrigerator and microwave. The room also had a living room with 2 sleeper sofas. Also had 2 nice flatscreen TV's.
Now for the bad: the sleeper sofa mattress is super thin and also very uncomfortable. My 9 year old immediately complained that she could feel the springs in her back, which was true. I was able to get some extra blankets to try to pad the mattress which seemed to help and my kids toughed it out. But the sleeper sofa's quality was very poor, and I don't see how an adult could survive on that thing. In addition, the cushions of the sleeper sofa were ripped terribly, with the foam sticking out. Didn't notice at first because they were rotated in a way where it was not immediately obvious until pulling out the sleeper sofa. The water shower pressure was DREADFUL, like showering in a bird bath.
The maid service was also terrible. I stayed in the room with a family of four, but only provided 3 towels and 3 washcloths. Also the sleeper sofa bedding came packaged with 1 pillow for a queen size sleeper. So I was already annoyed that I immediately had to make a request for more towels, pillows, etc. On my second day, I happen to run into one of the maids in the hall and asked her for some washcloths since housekeeping hadn't come yet. I asked for 4 washcloths and she gave me 2. When I asked for 2 more she told me "no" and that she was only allowed 2 per room. What sense does that make for 4 guests? And that was pretty much the tone of the rest of my trip when it came to housekeeping.
This was one of the best rated hotels in Des Moines I could find and was excited it was 4 stars but it didn't quite live up to the hype. I would possibly stay here again but definitely would not book the sleeper sofa room.
I travel to Des Moines for work every other week and was excited to try out this hotel (my usual hotel was sold out and the pictures of this hotel looked pretty nice). The room and bathroom is nice and clean, no issues there. Decent sized gym as well. The $10 breakfast is better than your usual hotel hot breakfast- more options and they changed it up day to day.
Where they really missed the mark for me was when it came time to sleep. They have a gas fire pit and 'hangout' area outside of the bar that you are probably thinking is a cool idea right about now. Unfortunately my room/window was right next to it and there were extremely intoxicated people screaming/clapping/laughing past 11:30pm all 4 nights i stayed there. The bar inside closed at 10pm so i didn't understand why they would let the drunk people continue to drink outside and disrupt everyone? I called the front desk several times and complained. At one point i even heard a woman falling in the hallway outside my room yelling "oh my gosh i am so drunk".....this is a hotel. Not a club.
I wasn't impressed with the management and how they would let something like this happen 4 night in a row so i wont be returning. I will go somewhere else where i can actually sleep!
I travel often to West Des Moines for work and recently got directed to the Renovo for a 3-night stay. It was my first and I had a great stay. The hotel was recently renovated so everything is clean, modern and fresh. The room was large, with really nice bedding. The staff was also very helpful - the first day my TV gave me problems and someone came up and fixed it within minutes. They offer breakfast - a good hot buffet with cereal, yogurt, etc.
Two drawbacks, for me. First, the location wasn't as great as other West Des Moines for my purposes.
The bigger issue I had is that the gym is shockingly small and limited for such a large and modern hotel. If I could make one suggestion: please expand the gym and add more equipment.
They have a pool and you can borrower bikes. There's also a country style restaurant next door.
So I had never heard of this hotel but it was booked for me as a location we were having a meeting and those attending were being put up at. I was reluctant to try this place but since I wasn't paying I tried it. Usually I stay at Marriott or Hilton Properties. Man is this nice. It is the cleanest hotel I have stayed in all year and I am a gold Hilton honors and a silver Marriott rewards member so I stay in a lot of hotels for business and personal travel each year. Rooms are clean as are all areas, staff is friendly and price is very fair. It is next to the Iowa Machine Shed if you are hungry. It is just off Hickman Road off I-35. Great location. Rooms are super modern. Beds and pillows are excellent. I can't say enough good things about the place. Breakfast is for a fee it will cost about $11.00 with a drink but it is excellent. Worth staying if you are in the area. Pool is clean and nice as is the gym. Wifi is excellent and free. Try it out.
