Our safari was with Roy Safaris, who I understand owns The African Tulip, and has their office next door. All arrangements were smooth. We stayed in the same room before and after our safari. The hotel is lovely. We were in Room 11, lovely, large and with two queen beds, separated by a part-wall for some privacy, quiet balcony, and another window with window seat. Lovely birds in trees and planters outside the balcony. Bathroom had a large shower. Dining room and food were great, too. The pool is lovely, great for hanging out while waiting for the flight home. There is free internet access in the business centre. It could have been better had the second bed had had a nightstand and bedside lamp. Also, if the wifi had been free in the hotel.

This is my third trip to Tanzania and each time I have used Arusha as a home base. And each time I have stayed at the African Tulip. This past December and January we spent 16 days in Tanzania. During this time period we checked in and out of the African Tulip four times. Upon arrival in Tanzania my three children ( ages 13 - 20) and I checked in around 10:30 pm at night. We were warmly greeted by the staff and welcomed back as if we had come home. We were welcomed by name and with cold orange juice. Since we were going on safari, climbing Kilimanjaro and then going to Gombe Stream National Park, we had an enormous amount of gear to be moved into the rooms, which was done by the staff quickly and efficiently. It was past 11 pm, but the kitchen staff was happy to make us dinner which was timely brought to our rooms. In the morning at breakfast the manager came by our table at breakfast to say hello and see how we were doing and if there was anything he could help us with. We then checked out, left a lot of our gear at the hotel and went on Safari. Four days later we came back and checked in for two nights. We then checked out to climb Kilimanjaro. After climbing Kilimanjaro, we came back and checked in again for a night. We then checked out and flew to Kigoma to go to Gombe. We then flew back to Arusha, checked in for just the day to clean up and to use two rooms as day rooms before flying out of Kilimanjaro Airport the same night. Each time we checked back in we were greeted as if we had come home to my family. Each time we checked out we were sent off enthusiastically. The staff was interested in making sure all of our needs were met. They were happy to store our gear and bags each time we went off.
The rooms here are fantastic and comfortable. The hotel is maintained perfectly. Everything is super clean. The staff is friendly and professional all of the time. The food in the hotel is very good. The hotel dining room is beautifully kept and a place were we enjoyed many meals. My children and I also really enjoy sitting by the pool and enjoying appetizers and refreshing drinks. This hotel is filled with kind professional people who are interested in making your stay comfortable and relaxing. My children all love this hotel because they make you feel like you are at home, the rooms are super comfortable and the food here is great. I have travelled around the world and while I have stayed at a lot of beautiful places, this hotel makes me feel great every time I am here. You will be extremely happy with this hotel no matter how long you stay because they always treat you like you just came back home.

We booked our safari with Roy Safaris, which is affiliated with the African Tulip. Had great service from beginning to end. As our safari both started and ended in Arusha, they stored our luggage for us so we didn’t have to take all our luggage on safari.
The general manager was on top of everything. He knew our food restrictions and our safari schedule.

Overall service and Wifi were excellent.

The food, atmosphere, lounge, and pool are also very good.
The rooms were spacious with comfortable bed, TV, and a fully equipped shower and bath.

Great place to stay!!!

We stayed two nights at the African Tulip (Dec. 25 and 26) while on the start of our safari trip. The rooms were great. We had a family room (zebra decor), with very nice beds and plenty of room to move about. It had a lovely balcony overlooking lush greenery. The bathroom was spacious as well and had plenty of towels for our use. The restaurant was festive on Christmas evening. The kids received Christmas stockings - a nice touch, and there was live music. It was my mother's birthday, and we had a table-side serenade to wish her for her birthday. The staff was very helpful and kind, including Mr. Sharma, the hotel manager, who was friendly and ensured our needs were met. The restaurant staff was attentive, and the food was good. Internet access was readily available. We didn't use the pool, but it looked lovely. All in all, a very nice stay.

What a terrific surprise to find such a quality hotel with a nice pool and bar area. Our room was beautiful and spacious with a TV, refrigerator, coffee/tea maker and a big bathroom with toiletries, bathrobes, a large shower and large bathtub. Bottled water and free wi-fi comes with the room. The breakfast was awesome with a variety of food to choose from and all of the staff was friendly and aimed to please. We enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return again.
