This was our first stay in the ALVA Hotel although we were very familiar with this area of Hong Kong. The hotel well exceeded our expectations. We stayed for more than two weeks during the Christmas and New Year holidays and whilst the hotel was always busy the service provided by the ALVA hotel team was really very good. The food in the hotel was high quality and great value. Our room was comfortable and warm during the cooler weather of December and the lady who serviced the room kept it clean and well provisioned. We will definitely return to the ALVA hotel for our next visit to Hong Kong.

A brand new hotel just opened at End of 2019, that mean you can get a sparkingly clean new room. Part of the hotel rooms surrounded with theraputic greenery mountains and river view, while partly surrounded by industrial buildings, so do check in advance with hotel to know which view you are getting. I especially like the fresh real flowers and plant grown outside and inside the premises, super high ceiling lobby also did a great job for giving residents a sense of open space. Thanks to a Japanese architect doing such design. I also like the launderette facility, a rare case for hotels, it's very convenient for guest staying more than 1 week. Big credit to the bicycle team, they provide bicycles for guest to explore the area, which there's a best outdoor cycling tracks in Hong Kong. I wish there's more rooms have bathtub rooms to choose(beside their suites), less in~room technology function (causing EMF annoyances), better water pressure, better restaurant services. Last but not least, a BIG round of applause to Guest Experience Manager Anya, and her colleague Yannes, always show good understanding of guest request and talk with guest with heart, with a good products knowledge and follow up requests promptly. I wish both of her every success.

I have stayed in the hotel for 6 nights in April 2023. It’s a relatively newer hotel. My apartment room is clean, modern and quiet, as shown on the hotel website. During my stay, I have made several suggestions to the duty manager, Mr. Lui. He was very professional and very attentive in the following-up. In all, I would say that it’s a satisfactory stay. I stayed here for two months with my husband as a long stay guest.

Hotel & facilities - the hotel itself is sleek and modern, if not a little uniform. The gym is better than most hotel gyms although it could do with further free weights. The rooftop pool is excellent and I used this every day, it has great views and is a lovely place to relax. The only downside to the pool was only being able to book one hour at a time and having to have a 15 minute gap between sessions. We also sed the laundry service during our stay and our clothes were well looked after.

Room - we moved rooms part way through our stay and both rooms were clean and well maintained. The reason for our room move was due to the smell of cigarettes coming through the air conditioning unit, we reported it several times but it was never resolved. We then moved rooms and the same thing happened again. The Duty Manager was helpful and investigated (and put a purifier in our room) but it kept happening and I am not sure why it couldn't be resolved.

Staff - those we dealt with were polite and helpful and made sure to look after guests.

Food - we ate at the buffet restaurant once for breakfast and once for dinner. There is a discount for long stay guests but I note the dinner was expensive. There is a great selection of food on offer but I would have expected more drinks options to be included with dinner for the price.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and really liked the hotel but the cigarette smell was frustrating and took away from the 5* rating.

We stayed there during 12-14 May, and the issue with the toilet got us frustrated.

We completed the check-in procedures late at around 10pm. The toilet did not work properly, and the staff came quickly to fix it and replaced the toilet gadgets. However, the same issue happened again in the next morning, which made us can not use the toilet in our own room. We called the Front Desk the second time to reflect the same issue as last night, but we waited for a long time and they sent a housekeeping staff to come. Later, they realised it was the same issue that the engineering staff shall come, and the whole process got delayed for a long time until we had to go out first for using the toilet downstairs.

Obviously, there was a misunderstanding between our conversation with the Front Desk in the morning of the second day. However, the same issue which happened twice during our 3 days 2 nights stay was a bit unacceptable... Hope the hotel will make some improvements regarding the above.
