I was twice at this place and I really enjoyed the view, the ocean sounds, large bedrooms with good AC... The staff could be a bit more quicker but everything is OK from my point of view... I will come back for sure.
We stayed at Villa LaMoon in dec of 2011 and really enjoyed our stay. Situated on a Cliff it gives a great view from all rooms on the resort. The rooms were fine and clean. Although first of we were boven the room behind the seafood restaurant next door which was riddled with bugs. This was caused by the kitchen from the restaurant which for instance had rubbish containers by the kitchen. All other rooms and communal spaces were clean andere well maintained. For newyears eve they put up a great fireworks show from the bottom of the cliff. It was a spectacle in itsself tot het the stuff down there haha. All in all we had a great stay and because of its location a peacefull place tot sleep, yet handily situated for exploration of the 2 popular beach locations.
Stayed here for a week, this would have been a good place when it was new, but now it is very run down and needs lots of maintenance. Lots of things not working or broken, pool very small and dirty, lots of steep stairs to get to your room. No mini bar or room service menu, this place rates itself as a 4 star, for the price we paid I expected a lot more. I rate it as a 2 star the service non existent and the breakfast poor. Food overall average.
This resort would have been great when it first opened ! The villas are large and grounds ok, but you can see that owners have changed and now it is being run into the ground.
The resort is in a steep cliff with villas leading down cliff to the Sea which has no beach. Many steep steps to climb!
Our first room (5) was one of the bottom ones, and the climb was exhausting. The room was also not that clean, with dust and ants. And Aircon was affected by the salt water and would stop and start all night! As did the power.
We moved to room 1 the next day which was closer to road, this room was a bit better, but only 1 DVD worked, but we accepted it.
We used the resort as a base more than anything, and only came back late afternoons.
Breakfasts were not buffet and had poor offerings, and pool was always green with leaves floating always in it, so never has a dip.
Location is inconvenient if you do not hire a motorbike as it is 1/2 way between Chaweng and Lamai.
Staff are apathetic and not the great Thai service I am use to
Perfect for people who do not expect all the finer trimmings of a proper resort.
This place is a perfect holiday villa, the staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are of a very high standard, my girlfriend and I stayed for 5 nights and would have stayed longer if we didn't have to move on. The views are amazing, rooms are cleaned daily with clean towels and everything restocked, we weren't expecting the place to be quite as nice as it actually was. The beds are huge and the lighting in the room was lovely at night, we had a plasma tv with dvd player, the bathroom was amazing, very large shower and a huge jacuzzi bath but unfortunately our jacuzzi didn't work we did tell them a couple of times but I don't think it got fixed, this didn't bother us too much as even just sitting in the bath and looking out at the view from the window over the bath was enough. The only thing I would say is, maybe this place wouldn't suit an elderly couple as there are a lot of steep stone steps to get down to each villa, by the time we got to the top each day we felt like we'd done a full work out, but that's not a negative just an opinion :) it takes about 10 mins to get into chewang beach and a taxi will cost 300baht, they seem to charge 150baht per person no matter where you go, the staff even took us in a couple of times, we just paid them instead of a taxi. All in all a great place to stay, highly recommended!
