The hotel is great - good quiet location, nice warm and spacious rooms, comfortable beds, excellent boot-room and a wonderful spa area to relax in at the end of a hard days skiing. The owners/staff are amazing - Giorgio, Stefanie and Alexandra in particular were tremendous. The food and Italian wine selection are excellent.
I missed a 'proper' hot tub with hot water - the spa has a larger pool area with jets, but the water is tepid. Would love them to offer a pick-up service in their minibus at the end of the day. And personally, the bar area, reception room and restaurant are a bit soul-less and would benefit from an upgrade to the lighting/decor to enhance the mood (some bedrooms are benefiting from this approach or see the Grand Baita hotel nearby for the impact of this). Having said all that, its a tremendous play to stay in Selva and I hope to return again!
We stayed at the Hotel Mignon in Selva for two weeks in September 2019. It has to be said we were very happy with our choice - this a very good hotel!
As has been written in other reviews the hotel is small enough to be friendly and intimate but sufficiently large to have all the amenities you’d expect of a four star hotel in the mountains.
Location - the hotel is no more that 100 metres from Nives Square in Selva where there are bus stops, cafes, shops and supermarkets. However, that distance means that once in the hotel it is quiet and peaceful.
Bedroom - we had booked a larger room and it was suitably big and comfortable. The windows were fitted with electric blackout shutters which had benefits in blocking out light and noise. The room was cleaned and tidied efficiently each day.
Food and drink - breakfast choice was extensive. Obviously there were fruit, cereal and yogurt choices plus a selection of cooked items. It is also possible to order omelettes or fried eggs in addition to the scrambled eggs/cold cuts/cheeses always on offer. Lastly, there is a wide selection of breakfast cakes, biscuits and croissants/Danish pastries on offer.
As we traveled with Inghams we were provided with a packed lunch each day - two rolls, fruit and cake. This varied daily.
The evening meal consists of a self service salad and anti-pasti bar, and then waitress served hors d’oeuvres, pasta, main course and the dessert. Choices are varied, excellently cooked and well presented. Table service was pleasant & efficient.
Facilities - the spa facilities are free to guests and are good. The small pool has multiple massage jets plus there is a kneipp, sauna, steam room, water meditation room, moderate heat room and adventure shower (alternating hot/cold water accompanied by different aromas). There are loungers in the main spa piazza and a separate quiet room with water beds. Mineral waters and wellness tea are available to spa users. It is a good sized spa given the overall capacity of the hotel. My wife had a massage and said it was good
Staff - All staff were pleasant. From reception staff, restaurant staff, cleaning staff and management all appeared to be happy and pleased to engage in conversation.
All in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
We stayed here for 10 nights in August on a walking holiday( booked through Inghams) in the Dolomites. The hotel is really well sited in the heart of the town of Selva val Gardena and really convenient for the excellent local bus services. The hotel is a family run business like so many in this part of the South Tyrol and you are made to feel welcome and special from the moment you arrive until departure. Both the family and all the staff are friendly and welcoming, as well as very professional at their own role. Rooms are spacious and well furnished, with very comfortable beds and plenty of storage space. Our room on the 3rd floor had a great walk in shower and super views from the balcony. The hotel has a very comfortable lounge and bar area where you can just relax with a book or have a drink. There is also a lovely garden area where you can sit out on warm evenings. The food at this hotel was simply superb every day, with a good choice and the quality of ingredients, preparation and presentation was always of a standard above many hotels of this grade and above. We were constantly amazed at the food. Decent wine selection at reasonable hotel prices. Also an excellent and varied breakfast buffet every morning that set you up for the days hiking.
Hotel has a really good Wellness Area that we visited regularly - spotlessly clean, lovely and warm and good facilities. Particularly liked the Finish Sauna and Steam Room. There is also a nice small pool area.
In summary - outstanding food and staff, coupled with very good facilities make this a highly recommended hotel.
A delightful, comfortable and welcoming hotel .
Service is high throughout with a really well informed reception who are keen to assist your daily planning. Food is delicious with a breakfast buffet fro, 730 -10. 00 and evening meals with a good choice range . The rooms are spacious, clean and well furnished. The spa is really well appointed with sauna, gym and pool facilities leading onto a small garden area.
As walkers we would highly endorse this hotel as a great location in selva.
Tip....check that the local gondolas are opened before any early season bookings
Super hotel. Friendly, efficient welcoming staff. Great rooms. Nice public areas. Smashing spa and pool. Breakfasts are very good. Dinners are just fabulous - five courses of what only can be referred to as 'fine dining'. The chef really knows his stuff! Bravo!
Would I return to the Mignon? Yes, in a heartbeat!
