Check-in process was not as great, I arrived at night and reception closed at 20:00 and I arrived a few minutes after that. The porter must have been tired because he made me carry most the bag 2 floors up. The suite I was accommodated in had a sublime view of the dam, the view which one can stare the whole day and still want some more. The bedroom was spacious bed room and bathroom, the air-conditioner is centrally controlled, there was no temperature controlled in the room. Minor mistakes like no remote in the room, WIFI that hardly works, even with careful entering of a given username and password given to me. The property is well maintained, with a mixture of vintage and wild furnishing, up stairs lounge was a bit dated, some changes on the couches is necessary.
Bathroom shower not easy to adjust hot and cold.
Noise is a problem in the morning, the property is located next to the main road, but at night it is very quiet.
For a 5-star establishment only 2 people manning reception, postering, technical support and laundry is definitely inadequate to render 5-star level service.
This is not a Boutique hotel by any means. It’s just a bog-standard b&b. It’s on busy street and you can hear the cars rushing by. You can also hear people at the pool below, your neighbors above you and people sitting in dining room. Very noisy all round so don’t expect any quiet, peaceful books to rest. On a positive note, the staff are very friendly and the decor is pretty.
lovely place , great breakfast for vegetarians, excellent service , room was warm on arrival, one bulb not working at basin ,but did not bother us. you can hear others walking around upstairs and elsewhere as walls or slab is not noiseproof , otherwise a great place, great views
Great location! Staff are very friendly, helpful and accommodating! Room was spacious, clean and well maintained. Close to various activities and restaurants. Nice pool and covered parking available. Would definitely come back.
The guest house is perched up the hill and as such as good views of Hartbeespoort dam and the area.
The staff are very friendly, especially Robyn who attended to all our needs in a friendly and professional manner. Weekly (the "run-around" man) was also helpful in all aspects. Both of them and another gentleman (I think it is Rabone - who served during breakfast) have great attitude and are an asset to the team.
The finishes in the guest house look like olden design but is kept neat which made the place very clean to use.
There was no shower head in our bathroom and Robyn apologised profusely and offered complimentary drinks as a make-up.
Food is fresh, especially fruit salad. Great breakfast!
The house makes use of a lot of wood, like the stairs, and as such can be quite noisy when walking around. There is definitely wooden floors almost all parts of the house (except for parts where it was tiled) but this was all covered in carpet which helped to reduce noise levels but it can be disturbing for those at the bottom level.
All bathrooms do not have doors separating from the room; this is not nice as there is not sense of privacy. It would make more sense to have doors.
The (electronic) lock on our door was not functioning in the morning so we could not access the room. It took a while to sort out but the staff were helpful about it; thank you Rabone.
Breakfast was a rich meal but it took over 1hr to bring the hot food to us which was disappointing. The kids meals were brought at the end; at least they could eat some cold food to keep them a bit satisfied. I think most of the guests came at the same time and they could not keep up with the volume to serve; this is unacceptable for a 5-star hotel.
