Date of stay: July 2018Trip type: Travelled as a couple
We stayed when it was very hot. Our studio (room 1003) was on the ground floor, next to the reception at the front of the building & we arrived to find the curtains closed and 2 large fans going. At first the room seemed ok for a couple of nights. When we returned later the first night we found the room incredibly warm and the fans were so loud that you could not sleep with them on, and all they were doing was circulating warm air. We couldn't open the windows as the room was facing the road. The quilt on the bed felt like a winter quilt, when all that was needed in such heat was a sheet.
The apartment was not very clean and there was a hair in the fridge and the bathroom needed a good clean. Nowhere in the shower to put toiletries - a shelf or basket would have been useful.
When breakfast arrived the rolls and croissants were slightly burnt. Yogurts were provided but no spoons. There was 1 piece of crockery and cutlery for each guest - I suppose this encourages you to wash-up!!!
Through no fault of the hotel, Belgium had played Brazil in the World Cup and the noise from outside was unbearable (restaurant right next door) and traffic going past.
We had slept so badly that unfortunately we checked-out after only 1 night. There was no-one at reception to inform - I think I saw the lady going out with a dog! We sent an email to the owner to explain that evening and received a response 2 days later. To be fair to the owner he has offered to accommodate us in the future at no cost to ourselves, but I cannot see us returning.
The bed was comfortable & the hotel is in a good location. We found free parking not far from the hotel.
Room Tip: Avoid a room at the front, as the hotel is south facing and also on a road
