The only point to improve is related to security, since I have been in a room with 17 other people and at some pint there were a couple of strangers among us. Nobody should be allowed to enter the rooms. Reception staff should be alert. Other than that, the place is amazing and very comfortable, excellent location. You have supermarkets in front of the hostel, the underground one block away, and Oxford Street in the same direction.

The staff team are European and almost %80 of the guests are from China. The staff are very friendly and helpful and There was also a pampering room with was good.
The bad bits: The room which I booked was very narrow and too small for 6 people. I was a bit shocked when I arrived in the room was full of stuff , cases, clothes, towels hanging on the beds and all over the floor. Later I found out that’s because there are people who actually stay in there permanently! The beds were not heavy duty as they should be, just very lightweight bunk beds, like some cheap kids beds from Amazon. Sleeping in that room and on those shaking beds were absolute nightmare and the Chinese girls livening in the room were so noisy. One of them that was also working in the hostel kept coming and going from 10pm when the lights went off until 1.45 in the morning every 15 minutes maybe ?? ... Non of the walls were soundproof and the noises from outside even in the midnight and a lot of noise really too much to let you sleep. The first toilet I used had no toilet paper and the flush was broken, next time I used another toilet that was okay. The food wasn’t good , I ordered steak which was full of fat and I couldn’t chew and had to return. Unfortunately I think most feedbacks in here and also on booking.com about this hostel are not genuine and honest, but this was my personal experience, would I get back there again? Never!

The hostel is situated right in the heart of London and near the underground. The staff at reception were extremely friendly and answered all my questions. They showed me to my room which had its own bathroom and was clean. If you need a clean place to stay that's central and affordable then I highly recommend the hostel!

Pros : location is great
Cons : no heater in our room (we stay at December) and when we try to get help from the reception, they ask us if we broke the heater (OMG) and end up giving us more blanket to use.

Our stay in Sohostel could've been good, if not for the rude guy at the reception when we check in on night of 15th december. The other staff is friendly and helpful, but not for this guy (I didn't get his name because he's so ignorant when checking us in). Completely ignore us when he's clearly doing nothing, mumbled stuff when showing us to our room, making a first impression of this hostel totally bad.

Questions & answers about the rooms

Answer from 8five2

Digital locks with a keycard on the rooms. Only locks from inside when using shared toilets and showers. Never found a problem finding an empty shower or using a toilet. WiFi is fine for general use and web surfing in the rooms and common areas. Two power sockets next to each bunk. No shelf to put stuff on, so charging items rest on the bed, or if you have a long cord the floor. The lack of a small shelf next to the power sockets is very frustrating and a simple obvious thing that Sohostel could fix that would make each bunk much more user friendly.

And send them an email with any questions or concerns. I did, and they always answered with a quick response as someone is always on duty checking reservations and email.

Q1: I brought my own breakfast and ate with my friends who bought breakfast there at the same table. No questions asked. I also had outside snacks and drinks inside my room. They cleaned my room everyday and no questions. I think they don't like you to use their plates, cups and utensils in your room and leave them there. Q2: I had a double room and it comes with towels. Q3: Toasts, cheeses, salami or Ham, yogurt, and fruits like oranges and bananas if I remember. And juice besides coffee or tea. No eggs, don't remember seeing it.

I stayed in a private as well and we were given key cards to access our room so yes, it automatically locks. As for the bathroom, there were a few in our zone and all slightly different. Most of them small and basic with shower, toilet, basin, mirror(small) and a radiator. We were lucky to have a quite large one on our floor as well. Pretty decent compared to other hostels I've stayed in.
