We returned here after a quarter century interval following Covid related cancellation of holidays in France and Spain this year. So glad we did, excellent and plentiful food included in our tariff, comfortable en-suite accommodation, warm and friendly reception from Andy and Lisa and everyone of the staff. The setting is wonderful with extraordinary views of Porth beach and the north Cornish coast. We look forward to returning in the future.
We have just had 8 fantastic days away at Whipsiderry Hotel, our 14th visit to this hotel. Lisa, Andy, Rob and the entire team strive to make your stay there as comfortable as possible and nothing is ever to much trouble for them.
The hotel is bright and airy with a number of areas to sit and relax in. There is also an outdoor heated swimming pool expertly looked after by Andy with plenty of room around it with patio chairs & tables or loungers to lay on, a great sun trap.
Delicious six course evening meals are available including two choices of main meal and a vegetarian option. Nothing is to much trouble if you have a specific dietary requirement as one member of our family requires a gluten free diet and Rob always provides a wide range of options to suit her need. Breakfasts are also great with a wide variety.
The hotel is situated on a hill with amazing views of Porth beach, the headland (great for walks, especially at high tide), the sea and a valley that seems to go on for miles!
Obviously things were a little different due to the current pandemic but all requirements needed to make this hotel Covid safe have been carried out professionally with plenty of hand sanitiser dispensers located around the hotel. It was also good to see staff sanitising regularly too.
Each member of staff is a credit to the hotel.
Our family love this hotel so much that we have already booked our 15th visit!
Thank you Whipsiderry Hotel.
The minute we arrived at the Whipsiderry it felt like home. Our children (ages 6 and 3) felt the same, kicking their shoes off as soon as we got inside.
Mid pandemic, the hotel operated a little differently than it would normally but it was still welcoming, comfortable and inclusive.
It has everything you need. The garden is beautiful, with a small play area that kept the kids happy when outside. The pool is small but again, just right when you have easy access to so many beaches. They have several lounge areas which meant we could all comfortably spread out but still chat and interact with other families. The bar has everything you could want and we made good use of it.
We are a family of 4 so our room was a squeeze. Pack as lightly as you can if you are sharing a room with kids. I made use of every nook in the room. The view from ours was incredible. Everything you need is in there.
Perfection. Easy access to everything.
Again, perfection. I spent 5 years travelling pretty much all over the world for work and have never experienced such an incredible team. A big thank you especially to Charlotte and Leigh, Rob the Chef and of course, the owners Andy and Lisa - absolutely nothing was too much trouble.
The best bit of the week. I have one son with Coeliac disease, one husband with an egg allergy and one another son with an egg allergy. Typically a restaurant will look visibly terrified when we walk in. This was the exact opposite. The variety and quality of the food was outstanding. My husband and egg free son typically never get a pudding or are offered sorbet at best. This week they’ve had tarts, cakes, mousse.... everything you can think of. If I had to eat in one restaurant forever, it would be this one. I am so grateful for how they catered for my family.
I had to work a fair amount and the WiFi was pretty good in the hotel.
As a dog friendly hotel, expect to see at least one dog most days. My youngest son would have happily taken the owners dog Mena home.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel and will be booking as often as we can for many years to come. Pretty much everyone else in the hotel has been there before - some for
This is a nice family run hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast is excellent with good options. In the evening they provide a six course dinner with two main course and starter options plus vegetarian option for each as well. We enjoyed this on our first night and then looked further afield at restaurants offering different choices. Our room was excellent, newly refurbished and with a view down to the beach, probably one of their best rooms. The hotel has a dog and is dog friendly, if you have a dog this hotel would be a good choice. Our room showed no signs of dog occupation and the hotel did say that they only allow dogs in certain rooms. If this is an issue for you make sure you tell them My wife can be allergic to dogs but she had no problems in the hotel. This shows how well they keep it clean. In COVID terms the hotel was on top of what they needed to do and it felt very safe as a place to stay. It is clearly a popular hotel and by the time we left it was full for the weekend. Good to see their hard work paying off as we all try to get back to normal life again We enjoyed our stay which was just the break we needed post lockdown.
Booked via a CUK advert in cross grain spoke to proprietor to inform also dairy free, stated no problem. Great food, ample choices. Good size rooms and use of pool.
Well spaced tables and felt very safe. Local beaches also not overly packed
Very nice room with good facilities defiantly recommend
