There are two rooms in this motel. The location is great within walking distance of Devonport shops, cafes and the wharf. They advertise Free Parking but generally it is on the street if you are lucky. We were able to park in the driveway but had to move the car a couple of times to allow workers to bring their truck in which is the second annoying fact that there were workers working right outside our front door digging up the cement. This could or should have been done at a time when there were no guests. The room was adequate and it was very quiet at night. I had to ask if the room would be serviced as it was not explained whether or not the room would be serviced which it should being classified as a 'motel'. Long and short the location was great but there needs to be improvement.
Located in a house in Devonport Village, it's a cosy room with warm and friendly service from the owners. I chose this place as it was very close to the start line of the Auckland marathon (around 500m away) and it's walking distance to the coast, ferry terminal and shops. So glad I chose to stay here instead of downtown Auckland.
Good-sized room with lovely comfortable bed. Lots of hot water and good shower/bathroom. All very clean. Kitchenette had everything you need. Wifi worked really well. Owners were friendly and welcoming. Short walk into Devonport for bars, restaurants, shops, beaches and ferries. Would definitely recommend staying here.
Don't be fooled by the name; this isn't really a motel, more like an Air B&B. From what I saw, it just comprises two units in the backyard of a house in a residential road, just off the front at Devonport. Off road parking is just on the single driveway of the house and so your car can get blocked in. There is no reception. When we arrived, the owners were absent and had left us a note on the front door. They were also absent when we left next morning; so we never saw them. Therefore, make sure that you reserve a room here with the credit card that gives you the best exchange rate. We didn't but had no opportunity to pay with the pre-paid card that we brought with us for the purpose. Despite these negative points, our room was quiet, comfortable and well equipped with a great shower and full kitchenette. Soap and shampoo were present in dispenser bottles in the shower, but there was no hand soap on the basin, which was strange and a bit inconvenient. There was also no shelf in the shower for your own toiletries and the towels were pretty worn and a bit grey. These are pretty minor points, but could easily be rectified by the owners. The house is well located, being only a short walk from the harbour and all of the restaurants in Devonport and so this represents a very good base when staying in the area.
The three stars don't mean it isn't a good place to stay, it is. It's just a bit different from the other Devonport B and B's. The place looks like a two unit motel in the back garden of a house, which is on a quiet residential street. Each unit has a bedroom and a small kitchen/sitting room. Oh, and a bathroom. Very clean. Not too private since the family uses the back garden but it's pretty there so you'll want to keep the drapes open anyway. The property backs on the businesses along Victoria Road and you may hear some noise from them, particularly the Patriot Pub, but it ended pretty early the night I was there. Recommend.
