I stayed at this place many times over recent years, expecting that each time it will get better. Unfortunately this will probably be my last time giving this place another try. I stopped at the hotel the day prior to verify that my room was up to par and that the rooftop pool was accessible-- no luck for me! The place is simply run down, old, and not being taken care of. The pool was full of algae and cloudy water. The room needs a face-lift, the towels are ratted and have holes. The AC was not working. I highly dissuade anyone from giving this place a try, especially since there are a bunch of other budget hotels in the area. After not staying here for the 4 nights booked and moving to another hotel, they have opted to not return my money--and that was for 2 rooms. Nearby and 10x better are TAU Casa Conde or Residencial La Fonte.
Stayed here for 5 nights, for a great price it had included free Wifi, free parking and was in the colonial zone, wifi didn't work so well most of the time it wasn't available and they close the parking after 12:00am so you have to leave your car outside the hotel if you get back to late. Rooms are small, tv was terrible, the swimming pool is small, air conditioner won't freeze you but it was ok, nothing fancy about the beds but I could sleep well, and they always had hot water. Like most hotels in the area there was always taxi available at front of the hotel.
If you are looking to save some money in a hotel and only need some place to sleep and have a bath and not looking for something fancy and lot of extras this place is a good option for you.
its easy to get there with parking afordable price and great service with a pool and internet the rooms are cleaned everyday the crew are very friendly. there is taxi service right in the front door and a few restuarant and cafeteria near and one restuarant open 24 hours al year long.
If you want to go to Santo Domingo and explore the Colonial Zone I must say this hotel is great for your stay.
The hotel is located on the outskirts of the Colonial Zone. Most of the attractions are on the far side from the hotel but the hotel is in fact, located in a decent area because there is a bank on the left side, right after exiting the hotel so, you can get your hands on pesos. It is also right across the street from the Independance Park. There is a street across from the park named "El Conde" which is great for roaming the Colonial Zone. Various restaurants and gift shops are on that street and there is also a supermarket. Grand's restaurant, which is the first restaurant on that street has my best interest because of their great service and fresh magnificent orange juice.
More about there is another review.
After reaching the end of "El Conde" you will find yourself in another area of the Colonial Zone with more attractions and from there on you can explore the rest of the zone and their various attractions. There are a number of tour guides at the beginning and at the end of "El Conde" so if you are interested you can always find them.
The hotel service is great. There is a watercooler so you don't always need to buy bottled water. There is a small pool on the roof, the hotel has an elevator and also WIFI, which performs on a scale of 3/5. The receptionist does not speak fluent English but communication goes well because they understand clearly. The hotel does not have a restaurant nor a nearby swimable beach. If you are looking for a restaurant you'll need to go to "El Conde" the street across the road or on the left after exiting the hotel, there you can find a fast food restaurant. There are a number of taxis outside the hotel so you'll be alright.
All in all this hotel is great if you want to explore the Colonial Zone because it is accessible to many attractions and restaurants, it is also tourist friendly and cozy.
