We recently stayed here in Family Room 2 with 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The room is spacious with two large king beds, a couch and a bigger than normal hotel fridge (even had a freezer drawer). The foyer is lovely with free drinks all day/night and an area to sit and eat (they do not serve food though - you need to bring your own). There is a 24hr laundry and so many USB ports in the room I’m not sure anyone would ever travel with enough devices to used them all.

The location is fantastic - a quick walk from namba station (use exit 26) which has subway, JR and Kansai airport train stations. It’s also located right next to Dotonbori with tonnes of restaurants and street food options available.

If you’re a lover of soft beds you might be out of luck. The beds were firm, but still comfortable.

Would highly recommend this hotel to others.

Almost forgot - they also have free massage chairs in the foyer and a pool table.

In choosing between Kita and Minami areas (latter is south near Dotonbori), Minami wins hands down.
Being close to Dotonbori meant we cold walk everywhere for dinner and local sigh seeing.
One can take the subway to visit Umeda area.

Hotel 88 Shinsaibashi is a bright modern hotel with reasonable sized rooms (by Japanese standards with a fridge and pot for boiling water.

While there was no breakfast, there is an area with tables and chairs with free soup, coffee and tea, as well as a microwave if one chooses to heat up a meal.

Kazuhisa Horie at the front desk was very helpful, changing our room to include a view window, providing a USB cable that my wife had misplaced (not the hotel's fault) and arranging a complimentary transfer to the OCAT bus terminal for us without us asking. He is an asset to the hotel.

We ate delicious Okonomyaki at the loverly nearby Hozenji Sanpei and also at Ajinoya.
We really enjoyed walking Kuromon Ichiba market which was fun to see the raw and prepared food (and prices) but come hungry as there are a lot of good eating options. We ate Takoyaki there (under one of the big red lanterns). Fun to watch them prepare the balls.
Unfortunately the National Museum of Art was closed and there was no performance at the Bunraku theatre.

Travellers: 2 Adults 3 Kids (11,9,7 yo)

Pros: Spacious room, comfy-big beds, separate vanity-shower-toilet, lots of hooks, wardrobe, lots of USB charger, new bath towels everyday, Sleepers, complete toiletries (hair band-brush, men saver-cream, Shiseido sampoo-Cond-soap, etc) free 4 bottles of water everyday, Polite-friendly staffs, coins laundry inc detergent, free drinks in the lobby & massage chairs.
Hotel very close to Namba station, few steps to Dotombori, kids arcades, foods, restaurants, shops, 7Eleven/Lawson, tummy’s always full & happy!!

Cons: coins laundry (dryer) not strong, need to put more coins & wait more hours.
Do laundry before 9pm, less people use as it’s only 2 washers & 2 dryers.

Happy to stay here again.

Sorry to use an obscure word, but I mean the hotel is interesting, even a little wacky, with at least one very odd room. We stayed two nights at the start of our Japan trip in a double room in the main building, which didn't appeal - it was exceptionally spartan (hot water took more than 15 minutes to come through), and had only frosted windows so no view at all, Immediately outside was the rather strange street - mainly hotels renting rooms by the hour, but perhaps not as sleazy as a westerner might presume. Location more generally was good - a few minutes away from the amazing atmosphere of Dotonbori, and from one entrance to the immense underground complex of Namba Station (so an easy 45 minutes or so from Kansai Airport). We left luggage with the very helpful staff and returned five days later, to a much better room in what's described as the Annex but is essentially part of the same building: this was more spacious, had a stimulating view over the maze of expressway flyovers (no problem with traffic noise), and so we left overall with a good impression of the hotel. We particularly appreciated the always-available coffee and soft drinks in the brightly (and slightly bizarrely) decorated lobby.

Dear Mr./Ms. ricnjoe Greetings from HOTEL88SHINSAIBASHI! *Bed Sizes of Superior Twin Room: The room you have booked is equipped with two 150-cm-wide beds. JR-Kyoto Station ↓(JR Kyoto Line) JR-Osaka Station -Transfer- Umeda Station ↓(Osaka Metro Midosuji Line) Namba Station There are about 3 railway companies in Kyoto. If the station you use is not "JR Kyoto Station", the route will differ greatly. If you stay at a hotel in Kyoto it is advisable to check with the hotel staff. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions. Yours sincerely, Naoya Kojo HOTEL88SHINSAIBASHI

Dear Mr./Ms. Kellyn Thank you for contact us. We are sorry to reply late. A)Children aged 6 and under are free so no additional fee will be incurred. B)Namba station of the subway is the closest. When you exit the subway's ticket gate, please aim at B4 entrance. It is about 2 minutes on foot from B4 entrance. C)Although there is a simple map on our homepage, I feel that the map of this site's is the easiest to understand. If there is anything else you can help with, please do not hesitate to say something. Yours sincerely, Naoya Kojo
