We couldn't have timed our arrival better, if we had tried. It was just minutes before the tidal change, which was amazing. We were travelling with another couple and had the room above them. Although we never wore shoes in the room and tried to be as quiet as possible, they did say that they could hear us quite loudly! Oh dear. There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room or option to make our own. We had to ask for someone to make a drink for us and so didn't bother in the morning, and waited until breakfast. There were a couple of issues with the room, which were resolved quite quickly. Firstly, the door lock was jammed and secondly, there was no plug for the sink. Otherwise it was a comfortable room and we had a good night's sleep. There was a nice terrace, where we could sit and watch the water. Our relatives downstairs found it rather offputting that other guests were sitting immediately outside their window. There room was considered an accessible room.
The breakfast was fine, scrambled eggs, toast and fruit.
Spent 2 nights at Cresthaven...what a great spot to watch the Fundy tidal changes and local eagles. Magnificent. We had a lovely spacious 2nd floor room, with a comfortable bed, great duvet and immaculate bathroom. Warren is a considerate, personable, interesting host with great coffee 1st thing in the morning and made exceptional B & B breakfasts. Wish that was our home base for our entire trip but oh well...guess we should see more of NS.
We stayed in the Sailor's Rest room on the first floor. Room size is a little small, but still no complaints as all we needed was a bed to sleep in. The bathroom is quite large.
The views are incredible from the front porch and a great place to watch the tides come in and out. Warren, our host, was quiet personable and we enjoyed visiting with him on the front porch. Even got to see a bald eagle in his tree from his front porch. Had a wonderful breakfast there as well.
Not much in Maitland for restaurant choices or much of anything else either as far as that goes, so don't come hungry unless you want to eat at the Mud Slide Cafe next to the general store. Otherwise, you are driving 30 minutes to Truro to eat. We mainly came to Maitland to go tidal bore rafting with Shubenacadie River Adventure Tours and Cresthaven was very convenient for that.
Last night of our family week in Nova Scotia. Used all three bedrooms, all exceptionally well put together and cozy. Breakfast was great, Warren was an excellent host. We will be sure to visit again when we are next in Nova Scotia. Tides were a sight to see.
This was a great bed and breakfast to stay at during our tour of Nova Scotia. The location was perfect as we were driving from Halifax to Cape Breton. Our host Warren actually came outside to greet us as we parked our car. He showed us to the common area, and to our room. The room was spacious and had everything we could possibly need. We called prior to our arrival to inquire about dining options in the area, as it was getting late. We were told it might be a good idea to dine prior to arriving as dining options were limited at that time of evening. That was easily solved, we just picked up a large pizza and along with a bottle of wine dined in the common area after we arrived. The pizza was so large we were able to share it with another couple who arrived and were contemplating dinner. The room was large enough we had no problem with getting around, and had plenty of room for our luggage. The bathroom was very nicely decorated, very clean, and had all of the amenities you would expect. We had a wonderful night sleep, and woke up in time to see be beautiful sun over the bay, as well as time to go outside and enjoy the brisk morning air. It was amazing to see the change in the tide from evening to morning. Breakfast was beautifully plated with wonderful fresh fruit, fresh jelly, and tasty hot food. I wish we had taken a picture. Warren was very interesting to talk to, he helped us locate the most scenic route for the next leg of our trip, advising where to stop for beautiful views. We could not have asked for a better host, a better location for a good nights rest on our journey, and the food was wonderfully prepared. We are very glad we stayed here.
