cathyhutch2016's City Tips

  • While at the USS Constitution, take a walk to the Navy Yard and get a sandwich at Tedeski's. It is the best sandwich shop in the city that nobody knows about.
  • Trinity Church has a free tour after the last service on Sunday only. Otherwise it is $7.00 but certainly worth the money.
  • The Freedom Trail is 2.5 miles long and covers 18 historical points of interest.
  • The Bunker Hill Monument is free and has a nice museum.
  • The USS Constitution and its 2 museums are free, however, she goes into drydock around 5/18/15 for two years. You will be able to get a close up look at her, just not go on.
  • Stay at a hotel outside of the city. Woburn is 15 minutes away, on the commuter rail line, and will cost a lot less than in Boston proper.
  • The Institute of Contemporary Art is free on Thursday's after 5:00.
  • The Museum of Fine Art is free on Wednesday's after 5:00.
  • Get a lobster roll from James Hook. Their clam chowder is pretty good too.
  • Buy a multi-day T (subway pass). The T is safe and easy to figure out.
  • Don't drive. The streets aren't easy to navigate and parking is so expensive.
  • You can easily get around most of Boston by walking.
