Ancient Ruins, Scenic Walking Areas
The museum gardens is the perfect city centre place to stop especially when the weather is fine. Find a secluded patch of grass and watch the people go by.
A little outside the city centre but a nice 15 minute walk along the river and you will arrive at Rowntrees Park. Very lovely surroundings and a cafe where you can get refreshments.
Makes amazing cakes and pastries, some of the best I have ever eaten. They also do great breakfasts and you can takeaway in a box if you wish!
A stroll along the walls is the perfect way to get a good view of the city. Step off and on whilst walking the way round and stop at the pubs on the way.
Great tucked away place, you can stop for lunch, brunch or evening meal. You cannot book so just turn up. Always busy as the food is excellent!
Good local pub, quiet atmosphere in the city centre. Haunted apparently!
Great burgers and enormous portions. Never had a meal that was less than delicious here.
Tucked away pub, nice food if you are eating and local ales if that is your thing. City Centre location, easy to walk past but worth stopping by
Cafe by the river, does great breakfasts and coffee. York is short on outdoor places like this. Dyl's is one of the best. Lovely park surroundings. In summer you are bothered by the geese and their goslings.
