What hotel would you recinnebd fior those staying overnight before the morning trip. We had booked the Microtel Keyser but now wee that it is quite a distance on mountain roads. We are seniors and need a comfortable bed and no stairs.
Koolwink in Romney. No frills, but clean and charming.
There are several good lodging choices in Cumberland and you are close to some decent dining spots there too. We stayed at Holiday Inn Express.
Two choices in Romney: The Koolwink is a quaint, old-time motel like you found in the fifties. Clean, inexpensive, but no continental breakfast (McDonalds is just down the road, though) Its # is 304-822-3595 and is right along Rte 50 about 3 miles from the station. The other is the South Branch Inn (304-822-2444) is more modern with a lobby continental breakfast and is about 6 miles from train station and is also on Rte 50.
We stayed at a Hampton Inn in Frostburg Md.
We stayed at the KoolWink motel. See reviews. Ask for the rooms near the office instead of the upper level. The Eagle train is just about 3 miles away. Local cafe great for breakfast. See places to eat.
I did not see any motels. We did a day trip. The road to Romney is a decent road. Met my sister in Cumberland, Md and it only took us 45-50 minutes from there. We took 28 . I don't know what direction you are coming from, but you may want to look at staying in Cumberland, MD and not go to Keyser, WV
