You should definitely check on the CDC website and also with your local health department. We got yellow fever vaccinations, but I think that was a requirement for Rwanda, which we also visited. We got typhoid vaccines and made sure we were up to date on standard shots, like tetanus. Also you should have the Hep A series. As for meds, we took malaria medication (we used malarone) and brought cipro with us in case we needed an antibiotic. And if you take any medicine on a regular basis, you must bring it with you, as you are unlikely to find it locally in Tanzania.
