Hi Sarah! Thanks for the tips! Just wondering if you had 1 day in Chengdu would you choose the Buddha or Mount Qingcheng?

Thanks

Antoinette

Between the two options I would suggest the Leshan Buddha but my favourite day trip in the Chengdu area is the Sanxingdui Museum.

Either is good, in different ways, and both are well connected by day shuttles. Personally I like Qingcheng better, more to see and the nature is a plus, for they boast great unique air quality, which I can testify to. The hike through stone-steps in QIngcheng is much more extensive but also much easier than usual due to the high concentration of negative oxygen ions. It is still an exercise with a few miles of uphill walking. There is a stretch with an option of cable car, which was out of service when I was there! It is still worthwhile for me though.

Both are good day excursions, but I would go to QingCheng. It's a better connection by train. We took a short shuttle bus to parking, then walked up. I think you pay cash to gain entrance. This is a more natural setting, even with clouds. Be sure to see Lotse Tower if it clears for the view. It felt like a more natural setting to spend the day. I recommend comfortable shoes.

Good luck!
