Is it worth paying extra for the studio on a higher floor? How many floors are there and where are the basic studios located and is it quiet enough at night?
All the rooms are quiet. I don´t know how many floors they have, but I was always in a room in the 5th or 6th floor.
I had a studio which was like a small flat with kitchenette, dining table, TVs in living room and bedroom.
It is quiet and situated very close to small street market and walking distance to shopping centre. Staff are faultless and very helpful. Hope you stay there although Causeway Bay itself is not as upmarket as mainland Hong King. On the other hand, 23p for a tram running the length of the Island is unbelievable.
Lovely hotel though. Would love to hear what you think if you stay there.
Just to add to my response above, we had a suite, complete with a kitchen and a huge living area with dining table and a work area with a desk.
The J Plus is not about views - there are none. Instead it offers something Hong Kong sorely lacks, which is space. That's why we chose it and we weren't disappointed. There are plenty of hotels in Hong Kong that offer views, but the rooms are pretty much tiny. As for noise, there was none. Something we appreciated as we live in a very noisy part of Sydney.
So you have to decide if you want a view or space. We went for space and the J Plus was wonderful.
Normally, higher floors means better view.
In this case, I guess the best way would be to call the hotel and ask for the benefit of higher floor.
I stayed at ~20 something floor and there was no view as there is a higher floor across the street however, there was a nice view sideways. There is a nice big floor to ceiling window.
As for the noise, the hotel was quiet at all times even in the lower floors where the laundry room, the gym or even the restaurant which is close to street level.
I hope it helps,
