Otway Fly Treetop Adventures Questions & Answers

Staten Island, New York

I have a small fear of heights and truly dislike roller coasters because of that stomach dropping feeling they give you- hence why I do not go on them. I have never zip lined before but I think it would be a great experience. My question is: does the zip line go so fast to the point where you get that stomach dropping experience? How long is the so line trip? I understand you can stop the line with a hand brake. As long as it doesn't go super fast I think I can deal with the height. Any feedback would be appreciated.

No, the zipline doesn't go so fast that you get the stomach dropping feeling at all.

The experience is approximately 2 hours and time goes by extremely quickly.

You don't stop the line with a hand brake whilst flying along, it is used at the end of each line from tree to tree.

It doesn't go superfast and the height isn't too bad at all. Being in such a beautiful area, you don't notice the height whatsoever.

Would thoroughly recommend it !

We did not do the zip line either. The walk in the tree tops is quite high but not scary. You get a good view of the upper storey of the trees. The tower is well worth the views. I think that you should email them with your concerns.

Hi There

I'm sorry but I didn't go on the zip line when I visited the Otway Fly. You may be able to get the answer to your question if you contact the company

I too have a fear of heights but no issues as just let the jungle breeze brush your face as you zip from station to station.

This is not the adrenaline pumping zip that zooms you from top of some waterfall.

This is super enjoyable.

Sorry but we didn't go on the zip line as we had two small children with us.

Good luck. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Hi Singleshe...

I'm 50 this year. I initially thought the same but I did it eventually. It was not as scary as we see. There are 6 flights in total. Each game can host 10 people maximum. The entire journey will take about 2 hours something which include about 30 minutes briefing and 10 minutes practice.

I couldn't help to scream out in the first 2 flights. It was because the coach had warned me upfront that I might hanged out in the zipline and not able to get back to the platform due to my light weight. It happened but it was not that terrifying.

I didn't get any stomach dropping at all and neither found it super fast. On contrary, I enjoyed very much after 2 flights and I was so pleased that I conquered my fear and could enjoy the game as my children do.

The weather is crucial to the game. It is a wet forest, relatively lower in temperature and has many shade.

Hi! It's hard to tell. I don't have fear of heights and loved the flying fox as a kid. This said, the first two time when I had to 'let go' it took me some good minutes before I was able to do it. But after that I was enjoying myself 100% and loved it. At the end, I was even sad that there are no more rides... I guess, it all depends on your two leaders as well. When we went - they were amazing! I'll do it in a heartbeat. I'm even thinking of going on the zipline in Planica, Slovenia, when next in that part of the world!!!

We didn't do the zip line; if you have a fear of heights then it may not be for you. It would be best to view it or ask the guide - suggest you email them direct first because bookings may be tight for the zip line when you visit. This should not deter you from going and doing the walk that takes you above the rain forest. It is a magical place.

Singleshepard, we didn't do the zip line activity because it was expensive compared to other zip lines we have done. Based on previous experience, you will not get the experience you desrcibed on other rides, and is well worth seeing the Forrest from a different perspective. They are a great activity for all ages, and you have control or get your supervisors help to control your decent. Hope this helps, and I think you will enjoy the experience, despite any fears (-: Enjoy.

Hi there, We didn't do the zip line, but it is high. It also isn't one continuous line, you stop at towers (in the trees) along the way and make your way through the forest. Maybe send them an email and raise your concerns with them. We found the staff very helpful. The walk is separate $25.00 each and is lovely. Some of the walk is high above the ground but the boardwalk is very secure - there is a tower to climb up (well worth it) but that is optional. The bush walk just up the road (Triplet Falls) is also worth the stop. Lovely area to visit.
