Dbozz, because of your lengthy post, and the phenomenal reply by (I presume Jack) I will be either be visiting this establishment or staying here. =D
No my name is Louisa I'm from England, we had a fantastic weekend away, I'm not sure I like your hostile remark!!!!
We stayed at Avoca house for 4 days. It is 15 minute bus ride to centre of Dublin. The bus only accepts cash fares unless you get a bus pass. The rooms at the b&b are clean and adequate. The breakfast is average and served well. Do not confuse Adecca House and Adecca Lodge. One is in centre of town and the other is a bus ride away. We hose this one to get away from the city noise and get some fresh air.
Hope this is helpful.l
I'm guessing you read the first review I wrote, before I got home and looked at their website to see the actual Deluxe King room I paid for but wasn't given. The first review was the one the owner responded to, not the one that's currently there. In any case, often, when someone stays in that room, you'll find a review similar to mine (2007, 2009, etc). Also, Jack was the strangest person I've met in a long time. He offered to drive me to town when he finally returned to the house after I'd checked in. I was grateful since friends were waiting for me at a museum in town. I got in his car and he drove two blocks, saw a taxi, tooted at it and shouted to the driver, 'He needs a ride to town', then pulled over to let me out. I was shocked. He never asked me if I minded him not driving me, or if I wanted to take a taxi or the bus, or whatever! He was like that. He did the same thing when I told him I needed to move and did he know a hotel with internet. He picked up his phone a booked me a rom for ONE night, on a super game weekend when there wasn't a room to be had in town for my second night in Dublin. Do yourself a favor and get closer to town in a place where the owners are pleasant.
Perhaps you should have had the weekend there that I had, then you'd be sure. Ever hear the saying, 'Until you've walked a mile in my shoes', etc? Maybe you should heed that admonition the next time you judge someone.
