Since booking about 10 months ago, one of the people in our party is now over the weight limit about (300lbs). We're assuming from what we have heard they will still be allowed to go but that the snorkel machine will just go a bit slower. Is this the case? Please let us know as soon as possible as if they cannot participate we will need to change excursions. Is it still the case that you snorkel too shore? Do we need to wear water shoes?
Being 300 pounds significantly ups one's risk of heart-attacks/ takobusas/ strokes/ things going very wrong. On the PADI Medical release form it says: "To scuba dive safely, you should not be extremely overweight or out of condition. Diving can be strenuous under certain conditions."
If you check YES to this statement, you are legally not allowed to dive: "Inability to perform moderate exercise (example: walk 1.6 km/one mile within 12 mins.)? Googe: PADI Medical Form
It is better to be safe and comply with guidelines. I am sure your trip is passed now, but maybe this answer can help someone else. I hope you had a great trip!
