We are the group of 10 people and travel from Spain on September 25 to October 02.. we have very bad experience with the the manager of Shanghai restaurant, i think this guy is discriminate on our group, we have 10 people and we agreed to sit in 2 or 3 tables and the host told us 30 minutes, then another 15 minutes then again another 15 minutes but we still can't get in but after we so upset and made the noise because few big group of the White people get in no problem...After have an big argument with the manager then 1 minutes later we get the sit... My table had 5 and only 2 people had the food and another 3 still waiting for more than 50 minutes still no food show up then after we complained and 2 minutes later we get the food ( why now??). This manager very RUDE and very scrapy attitudes..he should get fire that is my opinion... The people at the front service desk are not very helpful and dont care so much the customer.. We never cruise again with Norwegian line any more.....It really turn us off WE had the good service and good food at Tasty restaurant, Bristol French restaurant and Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant ..

Absolutely loved this ship, we had such an amazing time. Food excellent in all of the restaurants we visited - Taste, Manhattan Rooms, O'Sheehians, Garden cafe, the Steak house. The staff are excellent, not pushy or looking tips (we did pay gratuity and tipped our favourite staff). Our room attendant was great we didn't see him but he cleaned the room, turned it down at night which was enough. Our favourite was Danny in the Irish pub always happy and provided excellent service. Will definitely use NCL again. We have travelled Royal Caribbean before but preferred NCL.

In short, too many passengers, Ate most times in the Taste restaurant, service and food very good but its was so noisy and couldnt enjoy especially when you have a group opposite who are unable to talk but shout ! The cabin was like sleeping in a telephone box, poorly designed As always the staff are brilliant especially Luis on deck 18. I wouldnt recommend this ship but purely because it was too big and impersonal.

I was pretty upset when a week or so before the cruise NCL notified us that the Epic sports deck and the Spice H2O lounge would be closed for maintenance during our cruise, as we were planning to use both. I agree with the other reviewer that a $50 cruise credit was pretty lame to make up for that. However, at the completion of the cruise and having had a great time and been treated so well in many areas, I am rating this trip 5 stars… The itinerary just cannot be beat - a stop along the Mediterranean every day allows you to see so much in such a short period of time - let the ship do the traveling at night allows the passengers to wake up, eat a great breakfast and be on their way to explore the new location! Our large balcony cabin (#12238) did have a poor design but I wont dwell on that here as it has all been said before in these reviews ad nauseam. I will add that the daybed you see in the photos pulls out completely away from the wavy backboard and is a comfortable long single bed (I slept on it for a week). I was unsure about that when I booked the cruise so I want to make sure readers know that, in case it will also become your bed for the week! Our embarkation from Barcelona was smooth - we had a 10:30am check (arrived at 10:45) and were in the waiting area by 11:15 waiting for out group number to be called to board. This was the fastest onboarding ever in part to my doing the ‘paperwork’ ahead of time. We were on before noon and our room was not ready so we headed to the pool deck for lounge chairs and lunch! There is no need for a muster station drill, since even that instruction is viewed online before your cruise you simply go to the muster station area and NCL personnel swipe your card and give you credit for the drill! No stress here! Our cruise was at 60% capacity which is not something NCL advertises, but I’m sure it helped in securing lounge chairs and reservations on the ship. Not sure what next summer will bring in that regard. The food at Manhattan, Taste and Cagneys were excellent! We enjoyed the great service, atmosphere and delicious food throughout the ship. O’Sheerans was great for drinks at any time or a quick bite (pretzel bites!) but could also use a few more snack options in my opinion. Bartenders were awesome and always quick with the drinks. The NCL a free drinks package with Free at Sea promotion was fabulous and included various premium bottled beers (Stella Artois) and Absolute/Kettle One vodka, and delicious house wines. I was very impressed with the quality drink options. The 2 a la carte dinners were also a nice touch to break up the week and we opted for Cagneys both times with excellent steak dinners on both nights! We had beverage service in the buffet at lunch the one day we were there but you also can get your own from a bar up front -quick service I might add. The NCL food and beverage servers are the backbone of the ship and keep guests very happy from what I have seen all week. Everyone seemed to be having a great time and added to a nice vibe on the ship. I’m not sure if these people leave reviews but it appeared to be a good time had by all. Excursions were all arranged outside of NCL- I hired ‘Driver in Rome’ for excellent excursions in Civitavecchia and Naples and highly recommend. I hired ‘Arianna and Friends’ for cooking excursion and Pisa in Livorno and would highly recommend. Corsica and Cannes (tender port) were pretty simple stops to figure out and if you like le petit train tour and a stop at the beach you can have an easy and inexpensive enjoyable day. Mallorca was a but different - we arrived in the afternoon which allowed us to enjoy the pool deck in the morning but arrived at the heat of the day which changed everything. It was 96 degrees but with humidity the ‘feels like’ temp was 106, much too hot for the Port Bike Rental we had reserved (but not paid for). Biking in that heat was not an option. We shifted gears and took the NCL bus into town ($15 R/T) but it was quickly apparent that people waiting at the bus stops ahead were struggling in the heat and opting to get back on the bus and there was no room. Without a plan and seeing nothing obvious for us to do, we decided to just stay on the bus and return to the ship. A little disappointed in this outcome, esp after watching fellow passengers return to the ship hours later from my balcony from their NCL excursions with wet beach towels around their necks and shopping bags. If I could do that again I would have taken a beach excursion. Last morning on the ship was so PEACEFUL! I expected a madhouse at the Taste restaurant but we were the only ones there when we arrived at 7:00am. Had a great final breakfast and then went back to our rooms to get our bags and leave on our own. It was simple and orderly and plenty of taxis at the port with a dispatcher keeping the order…a perfect end to a epic cruise vacation! I would highly recommend this trip.

I have cruised on most of the major lines over the last 30 years and went on a cruise last year with NCL (Greek islands Sept 2021). This year (2022) I was on Epic on 7 day Med cruise? As a solo female I elect to pay the double price for a balcony cabin as it’s important for me to see and hear the ocean. Last year after Covid, my experience on NCL Jade was very good, the cabin spacious but the ship badly in need of an upgrade. NCL Epic…..this year, Sept 2022. How disappointed was I upon entering my ‘family balcony’ ( thought there might be more ‘space’). Tiny, tiny cabin…barely enough room to swing a cat, or small suitcase!! Very strange wavy design in room and really no need for the sofa that took up half the room. Remember I had paid double the price already for this. Then double $ to ‘upgrade’ to the food and beverage package. I asked guest services if I could see the Haven ( the next level up from my category) as I was interested in upgrading or if I were to book again on NCL. I was told it was not possible to see what was on offer until disembarkation day in Barcelona. I was not disembarking myself until Rome 2 days later, so was happy to wait. It was important to me to see the next category of accommodation if I were to ever return to cruise with NCL in the future. My balcony cabin was small and I felt claustrophobic but since guest services had said I could not view the haven in order to possibly pay to upgrade on my present cruise, I just settled. At Barcelona I asked to look around the Haven at 11 in the morning, most guests had disembarked, not many new guests yet had boarded. I was greeted by the Haven staff with almost distaine, as if I was just wanting to be nosy. This was not the case at all. If I am ever to return on NCL ( and I won’t be..see rest of review) I would only book in the haven. I prefer peace and quiet, and space, and would happily pay for it if I could have been allowed to see in advance what I would be getting for my money. As single occupant I would be paying 4x the regular price…nearly us$4000 for this cruise alone. I just wanted to see what I would get for my money..but no, told it was not possible to have a look even though most guests had disembarked and guest services had advised me this was possible previously. Regarding the rest of the cruise. Well, it depends on what you want I guess. Primarily it seems most people want to just eat and drink as much as possible. There is not enough space around the pool for the amount of passengers and unfortunately on the day we were meant to go to Cannes, we couldn’t disembark due high winds and spent a day at sea instead, it was pure HELL trying to find any space to sit outside. So many drunken passengers everywhere. Not enough loungers, and as reported by others, some areas closed for which $50 onboard credit given. Staff are mostly nice but there are a few very rude staff and that’s the first time I have ever experienced this on a cruise ship. NCL is in my mind a mid price range cruise line, but even so, still expensive and not really acceptable to have rude staff. But I guess post- covid they are probably on lower paid contracts and less staff to do the job. I will not return to NCL. I like the idea of freestyle cruising and as a single passenger not having to book tables or get dressed up etc, but really NCL now feels to me like ‘Carnival’ class. They definitely have gone downhill since even Last year ( 2021 on Jade). I don’t even think NCL care if people are happy or not, or return or not. There is certainly more choice around for passengers and for me that unfortunately means I will happily take my business elsewhere.
