Another town in Puglia with very attractive old town. Its worth coming here and walking around. We liked the view from the walls.

Beautiful part of the country to both drive through and walk, ambling through the towns is so different to the busy towns in Northern Italy, beautiful area.

On the recommendation of friends, my husband and I stayed at I Giardini during a quick tour of Puglia. Early March was not the best season for a visit to the region, but we were delighted nevertheless by our visit to and stay at I Giardini. Our trullo was absolutely charming - well appointed with whatever we might need, including outdoor space which, unfortunately, we were unable to use due to the season. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by Paolo and enjoyed a tour of his amazing botanical sanctuary, for which he exuded conagious passion. I Giardini are set in beautful countryside, laced ewith neat low stone walls and authentic trulli are everywhere to be seen. It's a perfect location from which to access nearby towns like Locorotondo, Cisternina, Alborobello and Martina Franca, and an entrance to Puglia's wonderful "CIclovia dell'acqua" walking or biking path.
Paolo is a warm and gracious host, responsive immediately when we advised him of a small problem with our room.
As we live in Umbria part of the year, we hope to return to Puglia during more of a shoulder season - once the weather is more predictable and things open up a bit more - and we would definitely like to spend a few more days at I Giardini.
Be sure to check out the many offerings from the gardens -Paolo makes and sells some lovely products both for cooking, earing and botanicals for skin, etc.

Our beautiful local church . An early church dating originally to the 12th Century. Frequented by the locals of Cisternino.
Popular and vibrant firework event each Easter.

The day we visited Cisternino was very hot & we took a short break to sit & relax in this small shady park. Only tiny, with just a handful of benches but it was relaxing & peaceful.
The war memorial was a dramatic feature that dominated the side of the park closest to the road.

Lovely visit, the pictures speak for itself, a nice church from the outside and after climbing a stair from the inside. Below a some historical or archeological artifacts can be seen.

Kept coming back for the high quality, low priced homemade cocktails. Very small so had to get there early (7pm) to ensure a seat. The Apulian Negroni was very very good with homemade bitters and gin!!

On the first level an artist was exhibiting his work, so it was worthwhile to climb the steps. Unfortunately you can’t visit the whole tower.
