One of the best free exhibitions I have ever been to. A great experience of being on an old ship, as well as interesting art and guildhall treasures. Would pay at least £6 for this great free experience….

An incredible house with beautiful gardens. Well worth a visit. There is a small cafe. The house was owned by Rod Hull who went bankrupt. Bought by Mr Tucker and Mr Wilmot who have done a wonderful job restoring the house and gardens. The staff were very informative and friendly giving information on its history and the contents.

While not necessarily a destination to prioritise, it offers a pleasant way to spend an hour and enrich your day. The visit primarily revolves around immersing yourself in the castle's intriguing history. Although there are some informative displays, there's room for improvement, especially in the numerous empty chambers that could be enlivened with engaging interactive exhibits.

We had an amazing morning for our son’s 8th Birthday Party, from start to finish it was superbly organised! Special mention to Debra our party host, she was extremely helpful and hospitable even with a few last min changes. She is a credit to your company! Thank you Debra! From the Cook Family

This was a very interesting small museum about a topic I didn’t know anything about in British history. It was free to visit but I’m not sure whether it usually is.

Handy shortcut to get through to Rochester High Street. The Huguenot Museum is above it. Didn't make much use of the centre but have very handy free map of Rochester High Street and the surrounding area.

We visited Eastgate House in April with our grandchildren as part of a children’s Easter hunt activity organised by Medway council. The house is located in Rochester’s historic High Street. We chose to drive here and there is a good amount of pay & display car parking nearby, public busses serve the area and the mainline station is a short walk away.
Eastgate House is an impressive red brick Grade I listed 16th and 17th century townhouse with an interesting history and is referenced in several novels by Charles Dickens though not by its name.
Entrance is via a combined gift shop and ticket office and there is a fee to enter the building. The sequential visitor trail takes you around the building in an organised tour of the rooms and these have been decorated to show the rooms as they might have appeared during different phases of the buildings history. Some of these show tables set with seasonal food and drink and my own favourite was the kitchen which looks as if the cook has recently departed the room for a short interlude. Another room is dedicated to Charles Dickens and specifically the house’s role in his final and unfinished work ‘The Mystery of Edwin Drood’.
Outside of the house is a small garden area containing amongst other things the Swiss Chalet used by Charles Dickens to write some if this novels in, though sadly this is not accessible by the public.
