We been to Haeundae Beach several times and this time round, it was just before Christmas in December 2023. The beach was crowded during the day and we enjoyed the sunset in the late afternoon. When it was dark, the beach was litted up with colourful lights. There was also Christmas performance with Christmas songs sang in Korean on a constructed stage. Even when we were leaving the beach after 9pm, there were still many people crossing the road to the beach.

Has a certain distinctive character about it and the museum (close to the entrance but not well signposted) provided a fascinating account of its history. Viewing the village in the context of its history gave it meaning and focus.

The bus journey from the metro station is an event in itself- the steep twists and turns should be totally respected if one is standing for the journey.

    A well-loved tourist spot.

Many people come to Gwangalli beach around sunset but not to watch the sun set. They come to see the light show of the Gwangandaegyo Bridge and also the drone light show. The Gwangandaegyo Bridge light starts after the sun set every day. The drone light show is scheduled to perform only 2(two) times every Saturday evening all year round and depending on the month. From October to February at 19:00 and 21:00. From March to September at 20:00 and 22:00. These schedules are for 2024. It is best to check the current schedule as it may change depending on the situation. The drone light show runs about 10 minutes. It is best to watch the light show while drinking coffee at one of the shops along Gwanganhaehyeon-ro.

It was a great temple with museum facilities. I recommend anyone who come to busan to visit this place. It exhibits the richness of Bhuddist culture in busan

This temple is quite a way away from the Busan main train station and Haeundae Beach. We took a taxi to save time, and there were plenty of taxis to come home. Also a few snack vendors before you go in.
Fair bit of stair climbing and inclines. Not really catering for the mobility impaired. I would also probably not take very young children.
Worth a look, some interesting things to see, even more so for people of that faith.

We did not visit the UN Memorial Cemetery in our last visit to Busan, but did so in this time round. The UN Memorial Cemetery in Korea honours UN soldiers from 16 countries and UN aids from 5 countries that were killed in battle during the Korean War from 1950-1953, and is the only memorial cemetery in the world dedicated to UN soldiers.

Do watch the video at the Memorial Service Hall. The 12-minute documentary is informative and is available in English as well. As you enter the cemetery grounds, there is a poignant collage of the fallen soldiers. In the Symbolic Area, the National flags of the 22 Sending States, Republic of Korea and a UN flag fly everyday above the interred from the 11 nations. The names of 40,896 fallen UN forces are engraved on the Wall of Remembrance.

If you are interested in the Korean War, this together with the War Memorial of Korea (in Seoul), are places you mush visit if you are in Busan and Seoul.

We visited BIFF Square twice in December 2023, once during a weekday night and once on a weekend night. During the weekday night, the street stalls were more muted and some were not opened, as there was much less a crowd.

During the weekend, BIFF Square is packed so much so that there were traffic controllers manning the streets, ushering pedestrians off the roads when cars were approaching. There were many shopping options and many street stalls selling local snacks. We tried quite a few of these stalls and the food were generally nice. Definitely worth a visit.

This is our second visit after a few years and this time round we came for dinner. There are many stalls on the ground floor to buy what you want to eat, and these included snow crabs, king crabs, prawns, lobsters, flat fish, eels, oysters, clams, etc. the fishmongers will clean the seafood for you depending on how you want these cooked. They will also recommend and bring you to a stall on the upper level where you pay a charge for consuming the food as well as the cooking costs. If you buy the seafood from the stalls on the upper level, the selection you want might not be available but the price quoted is all inclusive. Rice, noodles, drinks and alcohol, etc, are charged separately.

Generally, the food will be fresh but do note that prices are not cheap, and there might be issues with communication so you might want to ask about the prices and costs.

We enjoyed our night time view of the bridge from Gwangali Beach and there are lots of restaurants, bars and cafes that offer a good view of the bridge. We wish we had come when it was warmer to enjoy the beach but we still found ourselves spending about 2 hours in the area to see the bridge and grab a quick bite. Walking along the beach area we stumbled upon a cross section of the cable that keeps the bridge up which was huge and we also found some binoculars in the area which gave an even closer view of the bridge.

The closest metro station to see the view is Gwangan and there is even a fireworks festival in the area in an earlier month.

One of the larger markets, with cooked and fresh food, produce and household items in different sections/buildings.

Fascinating if you like markets of this nature as there is always something new to explore.

To get to Gukje, if you come via the metro, you can walk through BIFF Square and the food stalls there. Jagalchi fish market is also in the vicinity. Modern shops and cafes line the several streets before Gukje, providing an interesting contrast to the traditional market.

Not so touristy, with many locals doing their regular weekly shopping and the odd market-loving visitor walking through.
