- manuela pReggio Emilia, Italy13 contributionsRelaxing, endearing and stimulating place with books, music, encounters. A place not to be missed when you first visit Reggio as it is located on the central Via Emilia and it offers a window into the very soul of our little town.Written 20 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - James HBend, OR76 contributionsA hidden gem in Regio Emelia. The ceilings are incredible! Unlike many historic and beautiful Italian churches there was no fee to go inside. We did leave a donation!Written 1 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Livio GProvince of Reggio Emilia, Italy157 contributionsBeing from Reggio Emilia it is difficult to be objective when it comes to speak about one of the most iconic building of my town. Having said that, I am sure that everybody would be impressed by the beauty of one of the most beautiful Opera houses in the whole world.
Not only is it a landmark, but also a a real temple of culture (opera, classic and modern music, ballet, etc.) and an architectural wonder in the heart of Reggio.
Coming to Reggio Emilia and not visiting the Theatre, eating the delicious (as well as fattening) food and not enjoying the quality of life of the town and its surroundings would be both a crime and a sin.
If one doesn't want to (or can't) see a concert, a ballet or a play, one can still visit the Theatre. It is possible to book both solo and group visit at short noticeWritten 8 May 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It has the novelty of being built into a shopping centre, which is certainly a first for me, in Italy anyway.
Home to both Reggiana, the actual team of Reggio Emilio, and Sassuolo, who have been groundsharing since their ascension to Serie A, it was the former I went to see in a Serie C clash as they try to work themselves back up through the ranks after their disastrous American ownership incident. €20 secured me a ticket in the more expensive Tribuna stand, so I imagine the Curvas are even cheaper.
Being attached to the shopping centre does provide a decent advantage to a lot of stadiums in the country in that there is at least a variety of eating outlets you can visit pregame, although there is also a decent van outside the stadium selling hotdogs and the like. I’d definitely recommend eating before you go in though. Not that the stadium is anywhere near the worst catered I’ve encountered in Italy, they did at least stock ham sandwiches in addition to crisps and drinks. But I feel you’re better outside.
Inside the ground it’s rather exposed to the cold, but otherwise actually a fairly nice modern stadium. Seats sturdy and well maintained, clean and presentable. Although I’m somewhat confused as to why they chose blue and white seats given neither team who plays there wears anything resembling these colours. The views all seem good and unobstructed, but my only complaint is that in addition to how cold it gets, even behind the stand, a lot of the seating isn’t actually protected from rainfall despite the roof.
It’s a solid match day experience though, fairly priced tickets, decent prematch eating options, a good stadium and a decent atmosphere. The ground holds just over 21,000 spectators, and I wouldn’t expect it to ever come close to full for Reggiana, but their fans are still a liveley bunch. Looking at Sassuolo’s average attendance it doesn’t seem like you’d struggle to get a ticket for them either.
I wouldn’t place this near the top of my favourite Italian stadia, but I also don’t have many complaints. Probably not going out of your way for, but I wouldn’t recommend against it if in the area.Written 20 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This square was one of my favourites as it had shade from trees and plenty of people to watch.Written 20 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jane WLivingston, UK447 contributionsWe took the train from here to Bologna. It’s a very efficient service if you know what to do and where to stand. I recommend buying tickets in advance as there’s no one around to ask for help!Written 2 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jes R82 contributionsThe visit to the gallery was only available through the guide. The exhibition is free (the guide too). You should book a time slot on their website. The visit is available in group, I went alone and I was in a group of about 25 people, which it might feel too much in some rooms, tho. The collection includes Italian pieces from modern painters and sculptures, artist from the arte povera; instead in the second floor the American collection. U till here the collection is a part from the original one done by Achille Maramotti. The collection continues with some famous instalation and scptures.
The tempotaty exhibitions was at the ground floor, and it has no tour guide.
Full filling overall experience even thought I used to prefare a less crowded groups.
The tour guide is well prepared and she is nice to listen to.Written 17 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ludorIasi, Romania2,988 contributionsImpressive piece of architecture, with beautiful paintings and decorations inside. Also, the exterior is nicely decorated and there are 5 lions guarding the basilica. We were lucky enough to hear the organ during the mass - a great experience.Written 2 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lorraine LTarwin Lower, Australia3,012 contributionsWe walked to the piazza and noticed there was a festival happening there and then walking around we noticed the museum so we thought we would have a look here before walking over to check out the 'celebration of France festival'. The museum was in the older style as we had seen many times around Italy where there are cabinets of samples and they are set up in rooms focusing on similar items. I like this style of museum and I enjoyed looking at their samples of everything from paper to body parts.Written 23 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ludorIasi, Romania2,988 contributionsThe church is located in the most important square of the Reggio Emilia city and the exterior doesn't look very promising. However, the inside is much better. We had the opportunity to be there during the mass and the sound of music from organ and choir was amazing.Written 2 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Livio GProvince of Reggio Emilia, Italy157 contributionsPiazza Prampolini is the main square of Reggio Emilia, in the heart of the old town.
The rectular "piazza" (the italian word for "square") is delimited by the Town Hall (Municipio - with its marvellous "Sala del Tricolore"), the Duomo (the Cathedral) and the oldest bank in town, in accordance to the medival tradition of having the buildings of the political, religious and financial powers facing one-another in the same place.
Every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornig the square hosts a lively street market.
The most interesting things to visit are the "Sala del Tricolore" (where the first Italian parlament voted on the adoption of the national flag in 1797), the "Museo del Tricolore" (the museum of the Italian flag), the Duomo and the Baptistry with their ancient mosaicsWritten 25 April 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
