I'm not usually a massive museum person - but the Museo Egizio is fascinating.

We started our visit from the top. No museum can possibly properly display every piece it owns and here smaller pieces were at least on display in cramped glass cabinets.

The museum proper started on the next floor down and continued chronologically through the history of Ancient Egypt.

From time to time there were little detour rooms where processes were explained such as how to build a coffin.

A free audio tour is available via QR code, so bring your ear buds/headphones. However, we just wandered and read what we wanted of the explanations next to the exhibits which are in Italian and English.

The staff are extremely friendly and everything is organised impeccably - when entering my university student son was sent to a window to have his student I.D. checked (thus his paying €3 to my €18), the cloakroom staff ask what you want to store and direct you to the appropriate locker (we paid the mighty sum of €1 for the smallest locker to put our winter coats in), etc.

Book on-line to beat the queues as we did.

It has been 3 years since we visited. A wonderful display of all the auto companies located in Turin over the years- a surprising number! A must see for those who appreciate Italian cars, and fun for everyone else.

Brilliant musuem. Very interesting and interactive. I came with my young daughter who started feeling unwell and very tired. I explained this to the lady at the ticket stand and asked if i could come back in the evening after i had taken her back for a rest. They were more than happy for us to do so. Unfortunately we didnt make it back out coz she was so tired so i just hoped i would be able to get in the next day. We went back the next day and we didnt even have to queue- just went straight in with the ticket.

We spent a solid two hours here and we were walking and looking at things the whole time. There is so much to see which makes the ticket price ridiculously good value for money. The palace itself is the highlight and is absolutely stunning and beautiful. Every room is amazing. The museum is stuffed full of interesting art, sculptures and other bits and bobs. The chapel of the shroud is a very individual room unlike anything I've seen before. Of course the shroud is locked away.
The only thing letting the place down is they are no formal gardens which is a shame and it doesn't look particularly grand from the outside. But absolutely a highlight of Turin.

We flew to Turin mainly so see Juventus play, and have got to saw it was an amazing experience. What a crowd, what an atmosphere, and with a last minute winning goal (3-2 win over Frosinone) the crowd went crazy. A beautiful stadium, great game of football, and a very passionate and vocal crowd - simply awesome! Please allow a lot of time to get in as there are 3 security checks and the queues are long.

    Very highly recommend!

Piazza Castello is the main square of Turin and is absolutely stunning. It is dominated by Palazzo Madama with its unique double facade - it has a castle on one side and a palace on the other.

We had a fantastic experience here. The museum is huge with so much information and exhibits to see. Lots of interactive displays. Amazing decoration throughout. We were there during the Tim Burton exhibition which was stunning. Over 500 pieces apparently, beautifully displayed in a variety of ways. We were there for a good two hours.
The lift in the centre of the museum which goes up to a viewing platform on the roof was great to watch and also experience. However the view from the roof terrace was disappointing as it was wet and windy when we were there. But apparently you can see the mountains on a clear day.
Make sure you book in advance as it does get very busy but you'll be in there so long that the crowds will disperse around you. Really good experience.

The Parco del Valentino lies on the River Po and is a short walk from the city centre.

It is extremely varied with a French-style château which houses the local university's Faculty of Architecture, a faux medieval village (actually built in the 19th century), a huge fountain symbolising the 12 months of the year, etc.

Perfect for kids, walkers, cyclists or anyone who wants to appreciate some welcome greenery.

The views from the hill are great although you can see more from the front than the back of the church itself. Head round the back on the footpath to see the memorial to the plane crash though. Inside is pleasant and one of the most fascinating things is probably the graffiti - much of it 100 years old or more! The museum element of it does close for lunch so pick your time wisely. Out of season, there are limited food and drink options although the public toilets remain open just outside it. Well worth a trip up to escape the city even if just for a short while.

This is an amazing collection of armour and arms of general interest to ordinary visitors. It benefits from being included in the palace admission ticket.

    Something for the specialist perhaps?

Every inch decorated with gold, marble or frescoes. Fit for a royal. You can comfortably see everything from the benches.
