What travellers are saying
- Paul D73 contributionsThis is the "real Puglia" we came to find. After spending time in Lecce and Alberobello this place has a strong sense of a place where people live and work. This is not a beach or a tourist attraction town. We wanted to eat local, exercise our limited language skills and understand this region. The longomare is nice, as is the main piazza, castle and narrow old streets, but the most interesting was to visit the fish market and see the fresh products come off the boats and go to market and then on to the restaurant.

It is still the main church for locals and with its recent facelift, it looks better than ever. It's a unique church in the city that's worth a lookWritten 31 May 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michael Dino CMontreal, Canada135 contributionsWhen walking around a sleepy town of 25k, you wouldn't expect to see a full blown, fortified castle along the boardwalk, but that's exactly what you see. The Castello Angioino has the typical shape of castles from that era. The doors aren't always open to guests but when they are get ready for a treat. You can visit the inside of the walls, explore old tunnels, and watch shows in a beautifully restored hall. Great place.Written 31 May 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- 2CruzersSanta Cruz, CA23 contributionsLove this lifestyle. We need to import it. The guys hang out in the early evening, the families come around, children on bikes, mothers pushing baby carriages.Written 14 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michael Dino CMontreal, Canada135 contributionsThe Chiesa di Santa Maria Maddalena is the main church in the Piazza XX Settembre. It overlooks the piazza and is the home church for all the city's religious festivals. It has an organ and daily mass.Written 31 May 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Michael Dino CMontreal, Canada135 contributionsThe beach at Lido Calarena is nice and sandy– a nice change from the local rocky scenery. It doesn't cost much to get in but you can rent an umbrella, seats and even a storage locker. There's a restaurant on site as well. Fun place to bring the kids.Written 31 May 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- TravelerStockholm, Sweden63 contributionsThis is a quite nice beach, both grass and stones, where you can enjoy a surprisingly good quality restaurant. Both fish and pasta were actually good, more than you could expect from such beach restaurants. The fruit at the end was amazing and prepared right in front of our eyes. Happy with the experience.Written 24 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
