A group of us off our cruise ship approached Jenny of Kwalia Adventures at the port and asked if she could put a tour together for us. We told her what we wanted to see and do and on the spot she tailormade their East Coast Tour to our requirements. Jenny spoke excellent English which made her informative commentary easy to listen to and understand as she pointed things out along the way. She was most approachable and answered the many questions about PNG that we asked her. The driver was good throughout making the drive comfortable and enjoyable. The day of our visit was a Sunday which meant that everything was closed but this did not detract from our tour. We visited an area where a group of people dressed up in traditional costumes and showed us many of their traditional skills and crafts which are slowly starting to die out. The people came across as genuinely friendly and keen to show us things. Next we went to see a skull cave where we were met by a small boy who showed us into the cave, as we left we were greeted by a lovely lady who apologised because she was not there to meet us as she had been in church. After looking at an area where there had been some tribal fighting in the past we went to a beach, as we wanted time for swimming, this was by a family house, where we were made to feel very welcome. On our return to Alotau Jenny took us to a viewpoint for magnificent views of the area.
