One of the world's most famous beaches, no question about that.
One of the most average beaches, also no questions about that.
But, movies, shows and tons of hotels around in a concrete jungle by the sea made it world famous.
It is a nice beach, but it's in fact a town beach, better say city beach.
On Oahu only, there're for sure 6-7 much better beaches. It's also not that big, so it gets very crowded.
We were in a hotel one block away, so we used it only for our morning swim and after that we explored the island in our rented car.

A good sized park located between Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head. There are frequently displays, free Hawaiian Band Concerts and today the Waikiki Art Fest, Zoo Wall Art and the Na Hula Festival all on the one day.

Kuhio Beach is picturesque, convenient, safe and a delightful place to spend the day. Although, why stop there when you can stay for the sunset?

This spot is typically super calm and is great for little kids and/or those with limited swimming ability. This is in part due to rectangular rock wall jettys that box in swimming areas and protect you from the surf break. It also has lifeguards during daytime hours, rinsing stations and small restrooms. If you want a little more adventure, there are gaps in the jetty where you can bypass the swimming area on your surfboard or paddle board to get out to the breaks

On the downside, Kuhio can get very crowded and there is limited space in the sand to spread out. The water can also get super shallow during low tide to the point where you practically need to lay down to fully submerge and cool off. Lastly, it’s off of a busy Kalākaua Ave which makes it a bit noisy with folks blasting music and revving engines while driving back and forth.

    Worth the stop here regardless!

We did a bit of snorkeling here in the morning. Lots of beautiful fishies! Larger but gentle waves made the water was a bit cloudy, but we were still able to see a lot! Great beach, lots of families with little ones enjoying the waves. I heard monk seals come visit, next time we’ll try to come earlier in the morning and see if we can catch a glimpse.

It will always be "Walls" to the right is "Main Point" then you have the little Cove Inlet and the next surf spot is called Fingers because it looked exactly like a finger we would climb up the Rock and jump off into the water when Main Point wasn't breaking and Walls wasn't breaking we would surf finger, but you have to be careful because it had a lot of reef over there. China Wall is about 200 or 300 ft out from main point and when China Wall was closing out and unsurfable we would go farther out towards Diamond Head, what we always called as Second China's. Sometimes on very great days you could actually surf China walls and then if you got down on your board and paddled hard and wrote it you could get all the way to pillars right near the Kaiser House

It really sucks that they have changed the name around, the reason that China Wall has its name is because the surf over there is in deep water there is a partial Reef in the area but the waves that break over there are very steep like a wall and that's why the name came out to be China Wall. I don't know how all these Facebook idiots started calling the Rock area which is always been known as "Walls"

I started surfing that area in 1975 and learned from the people that surfed there before me. So I think I will hold on to what is been all I've known. Every chance I get when I see videos and people call it the wrong names I always try to correct but that's all we can do.

Spectacular setting. This is a small beach located at the Halona Blowhole Cove adjacent to the Halona Blowhole. It was made famous as the beach from the movie From Here to Eternity. It is challenging to access as you have to find the path that begins at the nearby Blowhole parking lot and climb down some treacherous rocks. You should also use caution going in the water here as there are warnings about the rough waves. I only experienced it from the views above and wish that I had known about it in advance. It seems somewhat of a hidden gem as it is not talked about much here on TripAdvisor and there were only a handful of people at the beach on the morning I visited. It also may be because the path that goes to the beach is not marked and sounds intimidating. I will definitely explore it more on my next visit to Oahu.

We were lucky enough to be able to have our wedding ceremony at this location! It was so beautiful and made our day so very special! We were blessed by early morning rains with a beautiful rainbow, then sunshine during our ceremony in the afternoon!

A nice scenic stop on a drive around Oahu. The blow hole is cool but the views all around are wonderful. This is a short stop, but well worth it.

This is a tough hike, but it's so worth it! Make sure you check for reservations. They are required. The hike is long, and there are a lot of stairs.

Beaches are my 💙. Clear beautiful water. Nice waves to enjoy. Great for snorkeling. There’s a lagoon for small children or for wading. Not too crowded like Waikiki Beach. There’s a shower and bathroom near by. Two volleyball nets close by as well.

Sans Souci beach is a small really cute beach. It borders a nice grass area. It has much less of that hectic feel to it than does Waikiki. I was lucky enough to see two seals swimming in the water there who then procceeded to climb onto the beach. Really fun!! The water was warm, calm and clear. Another perk is that it is right next door to a cute little aquarium that I took my daughter to, which she loved. It's not one of those strikingly amazing looking beaches, but if you just want a nice, mellow time, I would recommend this beach. I took a public bus to get there which stops right at the aquarium with the beach to the left. It took about 25 minutes from Waikiki. Enjoy!

Mākālei Beach Park, Diamond Head, Oahu Hawaii
Near Diamond Head Lighthouse is a nice small and private beach about a 30min walk from Outrigger Waikiki if you follow the coastline towards Diamond Head Lighthouse. Good snorkelling spot or just a swim. The park next to the beach offers welcome shade when you want to get out of the sun.
