Our party of six rated this their top activity and highlight in Oahu. The small soft sided boat seats 6 people comfortably plus the driver (skipper) and snorkelling instructor. We were taken very good care of by Garrett and Alex from the time we arrived until the end of our trip. We were given instruction on how to step into the boat to our seats, clear safety instructions ( life jackets available)and briefed about what to expect on our turtle encounter snorkelling trip. The ride out to the snorkelling area was fun navigating the choppy waves and Garrett handled the boat like the pro he was. Once we arrived to the snorkelling area where other boats with larger groups were also anchored, Alex explained to our group where we would be snorkelling and that he would be in the water with us for guidance and support. We were then fitted with our gear. (Floatation belts offered as well). During the snorkelling, Alex provided information about what fish we were viewing and steered us away from other groups when it got busy in the water and was with us in case anyone got into difficulty or had any issues with gear. He also directed us to where the turtles were surfacing, while ensuring we kept a safe distance from them to avoid disturbing them too much. Garrett remained with the boat and was there for support if anyone needed to return to the boat or swap out any gear. It was less crowded in the area when one of the bigger boats left to seek out humpback whales that were spotted nearby. Once we had seen enough in the water we had the flexibility of snorkelling elsewhere, but we also decided that we would like to whale watch if whales had been spotted. After re boarding the boat we were offered cold drinks and headed off to spot whales. We weren’t disappointed and managed to locate firstly water spouts, then to follow a small pod of Humpback whales on their journey to Alaska. Garrett and Alex were both knowledgable about the whales in the area and were excited for us getting to see them as we were the only boat in the vicinity. We of course kept a safe distance from them. This was a highlight for us and really made our trip special, especially for those in our group that had not seen a whale before . Kudos to Garrett and Alex who both made us feel at home on this trip and made it a fun, welcoming experience for us. After a quick smooth trip back to the jetty, we were assisted out of the boat and our footwear, that was locked up for us, was placed back on the ground for us to slip back on. I would recommend this trip for anyone looking for a smaller and more personalised snorkelling trip. While our group were all relatively strong swimmers and snorkellers, it was still great and beneficial to have someone in the water with us. This would be extremely beneficial for those first time snorkellers or less experienced. Seeing the turtles up close was fun, but seeing the whales was incredible!

We found this tour on the Hanauma Bay Tours website (after googling best snorkeling spots in Oahu and Hanauma Bay comes up). We booked the trip and admittedly didn't read the fine print. This Catamaran trip operates out of the Ko'Olina Marina which is a totally different location. We loved the trip so overall this wasn't an issue - but the naming convention is confusing.

Drinks were plentiful and the lunch provided was good. Smooth sailing, no one had issues with sea sickness. After about an hour we get to the snorkeling spot which is around Electric Beach. Lots of fish to see. It's a beautiful view but you're also looking straight at a power plant which is interesting. Plenty of time to snorkel, we bought fish food before. Music on the boat was good.

We had a great 8 am snorkel with Captain Tom and Tyler on the Māori II. The water was clear, the fish and turtles were plenty, and we even saw a huge pod of dolphins. Tyler helped our group to find several turtles and schools of fish, and even served as our “professional photographer” for photo ops near Diamond Head. Captain Tom gave us a smooth ride. And as a bonus we saw a huge pod of dolphins !
I loved the small boat (zodiac) experience and appreciated having fewer people in our party that you would have on a bigger boat.
Go out in the early morning for calmest seas, best visibility, and smallest crowds at Turtle Canyon.

Friendly and informative staff. It was nice seeing so many things in one day especially if your only staying for a few days on the island.

Tata was an amazing tour guide! She was very knowledgeable about all areas of the Island. She was very accommodating with our needs and timetable. She took lots of pictures of us with the scenery in the background. This made the trip for us since they were the only pictures of us on the whole trip! We felt very fortunate to have had Tata as our guide. This was our first time to Hawaii and we felt we got a good view of the island with her narrations. Thank you for making us feel so valued as customers and making our trip so memorable.

Totally friendly and awesome crew - we felt reassured and relieved when we discovered the all Native Hawaiin crew - many generations of wisdom and aloha in this family business. They knew the waters and marine life intimately. We saw whales breaching within 30 minutes, a pod of 20 dolphins and several turtles. A magical day!!
