Shari La is the former home of the fabulously wealthy Doris Duke, who built her dream home on this gorgeous peninsula and filled it with superb Islamic art. Visits start and end at the Hawaii Museum of Art in downtown Honolulu from where a bus leaves for the Diamond Head mansion. Once there, curators explain the pieces on show on walls, floors and ceilings, before visitors are allowed time to wander round inside and out and take photographs. Ice cream on the lawn concludes the visit.

Whenever we are staying in Waikiki we attend service. Everyone was warm and welcoming. The music is very uplifting. All are welcome.

Sits behind or in front of statue of King Kamehameha depending on where you're standing.
Old art deco building which you can definitely go in and check out Monday thru Friday, has a historic wing too (on left side), but not open, guard told me closed "indefinitely", still building is nice to explore and it's marble staircases.

Our friends were visiting from the CA desert where they follow and participate in the MidMod community so they really wanted to see this architects work. As a local who splits time with Australia and here, the docent knew some of my relatives but I was not Ben able to pick up some local knowledge I hadn’t known and the views are wonderful. My friends loved the experience and bought a couple modernism books so all in all, a very satisfying couple of hours- though it’s definitely an adventure to wind our way up through Tantalus!

Nicely restored building with a small gift shop and restrooms. There was a table at the entrance about tours but there was no one there. Worth a few minutes stop.
